Does DJK hold his records forever?

Unless there is a major regieme change in Iowa City it's likely that DJK will hold his receiving records for decates if not forever. First to have a good shot you have to start, or see significant playing time 4 full years. As good as DJK was he needed some major breaks to see the field his freshman season. In addition you have to be talented enough to see the field 4 years and to put up those type of numbers, without being so talented you leave for the NFL after 2 or 3 years.

Perhaps I'm being selfish, but I think the most tragic thing about this is that the Iowa program has to live with DJK being our leading receiver for quite some time.

We've actually had two receivers in the past five years that could have or did put up those numbers, and both met a similar fate, although one never made it past his freshman year. Doug-E-Fresh and DJK. Had Douglas not gotten into trouble he probably would have put up even bigger numbers than DJK did.

McNutt could have a shot if we open it up a little. He's got a bit of a head start, as DJK had like 800-900 yards through his first two years, and McNutt has like 1400-1500. It's not likely, but McNutt only needs like 1100 yards. And if there's a guys who could break it in 3 years, McNutt would be it.

No I don't think it's tragic. When I look back at the record holders years from now I'll fondly rmember the effort and excitement DJK brought to the field. He's earned it, I won't let what he got caught with before his final bowl game erase that.

McNutt could do it, but it's not likely he'll get thrown the ball that much. I mean, why go to one of your strongest offensive weapons? That's not how we play at Iowa.
