Does anyone have any faith left in KF?

As a college student myself, Hawkeye football has always been the Kirk Ferentz way my whole life. Kirk's early success was what drew me into Iowa football. I still remember the first time he really was under the hot seat after the 0'7 season. From 0'8-halfway thru '10 was some of the most fun Iowa teams to watch. After the Wisky game thats when we went into this slump as we all know. It seemed like the Orange Bowl win will go down as Kirk's peak but at the time everyone thought it could possibly grow, heck 2010 JM picked Iowa to win the National CHampionship, crazy to think of where we are now. Right now is the hottest the seat has ever been for him. Since I grew up with Kirk thru the good and bad I still hold on to the belief he has one more turnaround for the Hawks. Next season is the make or break for me and Kirk, I hope to see him ride off to retirement with success but in order for that to happen GD needs to go. Anyone think Kirk has one more trick up his sleeve to turn us around again?

No, I don't.

If he couldn't do it this year with all the returning starters and the easiest schedule in decades, he is never going to do it.

No, I don't.
Realistically, who do you think we could get as a head coach to replace him? I'd boot him if Bob Stoops was calling but it doesnt look like he's leaving Norman anytime soon. I give him one season, after that Ill know where I stand. I just don't want to see Iowa turn into a Tennesee or Michigan...

We don't have to have Bob Stoops. Let's go after one of the top coordinators at a top notch school. Tom Herman is a brilliant mind and will make a great coach some day! Scott Frost is a great offensive mind at Oregon. But it is time for Kirk to go!

No faith that he will compete for titles. No faith that he can make the personnel changes to improve his program.

I have no faith in KF ever adopting an offensive scheme that actually tries to win the game on the offensive side of the ball. Since KF is gonna be back, the only hope Iowa has is if Brian become the OC, and drags his old man into 21st century offensive football. The kind of football that answers scoring drives with scoring drives to protect leads. The kind of football that comes out from the opening kickoff trying to score points on every possession. You know, the stuff every high school, college, and pro team has been doing now for a decade.

No, and I don't think you will find one anywhere on a message board or Twitter. I wonder how the donors feel now. That's who we need to be fed up with this crap. If you listen to KF talk, he seems to basically verbally stick his finger in the air at Iowa fans every time he talks. He has become (or maybe we are just noticing now) arrogant, smug, and out of touch with reality. Iowa is quickly becoming the model of being satisfied with mediocrity. No thanks. We need change.

I have been a staunch defender of KF in year's past. For what he did rebuilding after Hayden left several years too late he earned a bit of good will. But that time has come and gone. There just seems to be no sense of urgency to be better than dismally mediocre. Heaven forbid we become infused with the same expectation and god-complex that Nebby's fanbase appear to have by firing a coach who just went 9-3. KF has left me with the same feeling as I had when Lute stiffed us and took off for 'zona.
At the very least Kirk's contract should have an incentive clause based on wins per year. Would it upset me if a group of poobahs and major donors for Iowa counted their pennies and bought out this contract? At this point in time not in the least.

I, for one, keep the faith. Things are gonna turn around next year. We have some good recruits coming in. Things are setting up well with the offensive coordinator in his fourth year to get his system installed.

He doesn't have faith in himself, why should anyone else have faith in him.

I mean seriously, who goes into their job thinking that the only way they will be successful is if every variable turns in their favor?

I still have faith in Coach Ferentz, but lately I have been scratching my head. I will bet anyone he could have Tom Brady on the team and somehow Rudock would start

Turn into Tennesse or Michigan?

Michigan is the right coaching hire away from being on top again (third time may be the charm).
Tennessee, in spite of a poor record, has a good coach in place and will be good again.

As an Iowa fan and alum I wish we had as bright a future as Michigan and Tennessee.

Even after Coach Ferentz leaves (I'm guessing between 2018-2020) the next guy will need time to get his players in and implement his system.
We could realistically be looking at damn near a decade of mediocre (at best) football before things get better again.

After a 7-5 schedule with one of the easiest schedules in my 35 years of being a Hawk fan, no ... No faith whatsoever. This was Kirk's year to show he still had something left in the tank... The tank is now dry.

As a human being, a neighbor, sure. Great guy, nice family.

As a football coach. hell no. He's already retired... just going through the motions and picking up a juicy check. He has ceased to grow in his job and shows no desire. And perhaps most distasteful..it would appear that his ego has begun to supercede his judgement. A sure formula for failure.

How anyone of reasonable intelligence and minimal objectivity can postulate otherwise...is tough to imagine.

Yes. But we'll have lots of close plays and We need some guys to make clutch plays next year. Outside of Ball State(GAG)... It didn't happen this year. Perhaps against Pitt, but even that was more methodical than clutch. This year was underwhelming to say the least.

Yes, he is the only active 3 time Big 10 coach of the year! In comparison that Northwestern coach that so many people have posted about being such a good coach, has not accomplished that or a Big 10 championship. In fact Northwestern has had 2 consecutive losing seasons. Oh Iowa has also beat his team 2 years in a row. KF>Fitz!
