Do we wait another 14 years ?

Will Iowa make the tourney next year? YES

Will they win their first game in the round of 64? Yeah, sure, why not?

I would be very disappointed if they did not reach the NCAA Tournament next year. They will have one of the most veteran teams in the Big Ten.

I am beginning to feel more and more this way. 4 experienced Sr., and 1 experience Jr. should be good enough to get you to the NCAA. Couple that with Fran's track record of improving every team during the year (sans the year Patrick was fighting for his life), and I think that adds up to another NCAA birth. I think they may struggle some in the non conference as they figure out who of the Fr. will contribute to the 8/9 man rotation. By the time the B1G season starts they should have it figured out.

NIT for sure, NCAA tourney bubble team next year. 16-17 top 5 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Well, it will be 16 as of next year since we made the Sweet 16, so I'd settle for that right now.

Incorrect, it will be seventeen years since Iowa made the Sweet 16 next year. A run is more than winning a first round game. To me, a run is making the Elite Eight. Next year it will be twenty-nine years since Iowa made the Elite Eight. The Hawks have made the Sweet 16 twice since then. Only at Iowa do fans think a first round win is a run in the NCAA. Since Davis' second season in '88, the Hawks have won only one game after the first round (27 seasons). To put that into perspective, that is two less wins after the first round than Lute had in '80

Wisconsin loses Gasser, Kaminsky and Dukan. Jackson is gone but hasn't been playing so that doesn't matter much. Will Dekker return? We all know they finish top 4 if Bo is the coach.

Maryland loses Smotrycz and Wells. Does Trimble leave early?

Iowa loses White, Olaseni and Oglesby but could start 4 seniors and a junior.

Purdue loses Octeus. Does Hammons come back? He could be the difference between 4th and 12th.

Michigan State loses Trice and Dawson. But they are likely top 4 with Izzo.

Ohio State loses Scott, Thompson, Williams and almost certainly Russell. They will reload but probably don't contend with freshmen.

Indiana loses no one unless Ferrell leave early.

No one else looks like a contender for the upper division. Someone will likely be better than expected but who knows which team it will be. I think Iowa will be somewhere between 4th and 7th.

You do realize Iowa basketball is not required viewing... I enjoy watching the games. I enjoyed getting a win in the NCAA Tournament. I like speculating about next year's team. It seems like the whole experience makes you miserable. It's supposed to be fun IMO.

It was fun with Ralph & Lute. I enjoy watching the games, but was just pointing out some facts.

Ok grandpa, we get it. Iowa will grab their ball and get the F off your lawn.....I'm sure you walked to school uphill both ways for 10 miles, and next you can lecture us on how the country just ain't as good as it use to be in "your day".....jeeeezzz

Seems like Yogi has been there forever. Would've bet he was a Sr.

If our returning players all improve (and I think they will), I think we are pretty salty next year with a legitimate shot an another NCAA bid. Surely one or two of the freshmen will make a contribution.....

Who said winning one game was making a run? I responded to a post that said it's been 35 years since we made a run into the Final 4 and I said it'd be nice to make the Sweet 16 since it's been 16 er 17 years since the last time. I agree that one win past the first round in 27 years is pretty pathetic but it's ok to be happy at winning an NCAA game after the state in which the program has been in recently.
