Do people really think D1 OC to NFL QB coach is a step down?

Of course some people on here think it's a step down. This is the same fan base that thinks there is a national media conspiracy to keep Iowa athletics down.Even if he isn't making quite as much money, the schedule and his responsibilities won't be nearly as strenuous as an OC in college.
Hey its not a conspiracy its a fact!

Thee point is outside of fO$U (who has the advantage of getting the top qb prospects in the nation) and Purdue, Iowa ranks right at the top of the B10 in terms of QB development.

Under KOK Iowa has seen an regarded juco qb turn into a Heisman candidate, made Nathan Chandler look like a decent B10 QB (I still don't know how the **** that happened), turned a lightly regarded 5-10 qb from Texas into an all B10 qb despite not having a running game, turned a lightly regarded prospect from Ohio into am NFL draft pick, and IMO will see the same thing from JVB.

When the worst qb season you have to deal with in a decade includes a 17-6 TD to INT ratio you know you've had it good.

you must be stupid.

IMO you look pretty stupid for diving to the defense of a guy who's offenses have ranked near the bottom of NCAA for the past decade.

Now if you want to say its not all his fault - sure I believe that

But I never ever hear any talking heads, coaches or players talking about how great a coach he is.

I've heard it alot about Ferentz, i've heard it alot about Parker.

But not Okeefe

Almost all of the seasons you so gloriously remember for our great offensive performances were won by defense.

All you have to do is look at the rankings.

You are cracking me up with your picking and choosing of certain stats to try to paint a picture that never existed.

If you compared all the statistics (yards, completion %, TD's, ect) of Quarterbacks over the past 13 years from all the divison one schools you will see that Iowa's production is near the bottom.

17-6 should be one half the season in todays NCAA unless you got 6 5 star athelets on defense like LSU or Alabama.

I'm not talking about anything other than KOK as a qb coach.

He did a good job with QB's, problem is that was the lesser of his two jobs while at Iowa. I'm sure he will be a solid position coach but the fact he ran the offense for 13 years blows my mind

Think about it...............

After 13 years you have Ipers to retire on

You take a job in the NFL for higher pay as you are getting closer to retirement age

If you can make it 5 years in the NFL as an assistant..you qualify for NFL retirement package

If your coaching staff does well enough.....Florida probably isn't a bad place to retire

You no longer have to play the recruiting games in college

Maybe KOK is alot smarter than anyone gives him credit!!!

Lateral my ***. He went from being the OC at a D1 program and calling the plays to now being a WR (position) coach in the NFL. He took a step back but it may pay off for him in the end.

Its been rumored in the past that KOK had been contacted about head coaching positions at meaningless programs and either wasn't offered or didn't accept the position. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that he wasn't going to land a big-time gig in college due to the mediocre showing on the offensive side of the ball.

Just guessing here, but maybe he wanted to show his abilities in a different forum (NFL) in hopes that he would rapidly escalate through the ranks.

It will be very interesting to see if the conservative, bland offense was a direct result of KOK or if Ferentz really controlled the play calling. Either way, we are going to find out in the upcoming season.

He made a decision that was best for him and his family, who are any of you to say whether it was a step up or down? Get over yourselves.
