DJK's latest FB status...

"Hawkeyenation, I love you and can't thank you enough for your love and support. You created DJK and I will at some point, when circumstances allow, express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity this institution has given me. Godspeed & God bless."

Good for DJK. I hope he takes care of his issues, he gets a second chance and can make it in the NFL and I look forward to hearing from him again someday soon. However, it would have been nice for none of this to happen and for DJK to be suiting up for the Hawks in the Insight Bowl!

i hope he sincerely means that. its been enough time for me to get over my anger over the situation and wish him the best. i hope he gets his stuff figured out and moves on to bigger and better things

We all have made mistakes as youngsters and I am not going to be one to throw this young man under the bus. He is stat wise the greastest receiver in Iowa Football History and while he has made some poor personal choices we should never forget the accomplishments and amazing performace he gave us fans on the field. Good luck DJK.

A mistake would be doing drugs once or twice. Running a drug house is a criminal act. This is how he is going to be remembered, which is sad.

He will be a good business man though. Supply and demand; lots of demand for coke in IC. DJK knew how to make some paper!

The FB page I was looking at must have just been a fan page and not DJK's actual site. DJK did post on it the night before his arrest. Nevertheless, I like the post and hope he gets his act together!

Yeah you were looking at his fan page. He posted the OP status on his personal profile. I certainly hope he means that and gets his life straightened out. If he can do that, he still goes down as one of my favorite Hawks.

Well D, we enjoyed watching you play.

Now please tell that jerkoff rich kid loser you lived with to ____ ___ next time you see him. Thx.

Sorry...but he was "running a drug house" I hope for his sake he get's his life together....but he's not going down as one of my favorite hawks. I'm going to lump him in with Dom E Doug a group higher than Everson and Satterfield but still low.

DJK was CHARGED with running a drug house. He was living WITH a convicted drug dealer. DJK was the name on the lease, therefore he is the one to be charged. DJK was NOT charged for intent to deliver, he was charged with possession. Those making claims that DJK is a drug DEALER are severely out of line and I hope Jon makes it a point to get rid of those posters.

Brady Johnson is a convicted drug dealer. Brady Johnson was dealing drugs out of the residence leased to Derrell Johnson-Koulianos. Being on the lease, DJK is the one charged for 'keeping a drug house'. It is entirely likely he will be absolved of that charge when all is said and done.

I doubt that it's "likely" DJK will be absolved of the drug house charge, because he admitted to police that he thought it was likely that drugs were being sold out of the house. He may not have directly been "running a drug house", but he was complicit nonetheless (assuming the charges are accurate).

Well put, good clarification.

The point of my comment focusing mainly on the fact that DJK was not the one distributing. Does it make it any better or worse? No. But the claims of DJK as being a 'drug dealer' are ridiculous and out of line GIVEN WHAT WE KNOW AS FACT.

Dear DJK,

Keep the love where it needs to be -- with your teammates and coaches. Fans come and go (just like friends). Family stays with you forever. The Hawkeye football team is family. Has been and will always be that under Ferentz. Families keep things to themselves when they need to be worked on and involve everyone when there are things to celebrate. DJK, keep your focus on giving back to your family and you will always find success.

DJK probably isn't going to be absolved of anything he's been charged with, especially since he confessed to taking various drugs and submitted to a drug test.

He's got very little plea bargaining leverage. He'll likely get a relatively light sentence though as a first time offender.

The only charge that he appears to have any chance of being absolved from is the drug house charge. The others look like they'll stick pretty easily. But I think it's very unlikely he gets the drug house charge dropped.

Post FAIL.

DJK will be remembered as the record breaker and holder of several Iowa Hawkeye Football career records, as a "give it his all in games"- player, and as an all conference receiver who used poor judgment in his personal life and may have cost him lots of money in his professional life. Life goes on, I believe he has enough love and friends and family support to go on and be a successful person in whatever he ends up doing. Hopefully football for a few years first.
