DJK and the NFL draft

i could say andy brodell as evidenced by his punt return against iowa state a couple years back

but i agree, this is the first i've heard of low YAC avg being used to describe DJK

It's lower than McNutt's, anyway. The only reason that his YAC is even as low as it is: we use him as a chain-mover as well as a big-play threat. McNutt is big play and goalline specialist. DJK makes a lot of catches along the sideline right at the sticks, which will limit his YAC, but not his value. We are talking about yards per reception, and not yards after the catch? This argument fits YPC better, but it can still apply to YAC as well.

And DJK is at least 6'0". I've run into him once or twice downtown, and he's a couple inches taller than me. I'm 5'10"/5'11"-ish.

where this "low YAC avg" come from? Link?

hes the best open field runner weve had at WR since Dwight, as evidenced by his KO return versus OSU.

And his open-field skills weren't really on display in the KO return. He made one cut and followed a convoy. Brodell, before he tore his hamstring, would have been right up there. He wove through the Texas secondary in a way I wouldn't have thought was possible, especially for a white kid from Ankeny. But in my opinion, the best open-field WR we've had since Dwight HAS to go to C.J. Jones. If there was ever a prototype guy to make the jailbreak screen work, it was Jones.

I will be shocked if DJK is NOT drafted next April. Some people who are suggesting he will not be drafted must not look at who goes in rounds 6 & 7. Nothing against Kevin Kasper, but he was a 6th rd pick in 2001 and IMO DJK has more upside and brings more to the table with his punt and kickoff abilities than Kasper. I see him as a 4th or 5th round pick next year.

I think something is being left out of the discussion here. Campbell will help both McNutt and DJK tremendously with his reputation for turning out quality NFL ready pass catchers. Plus Iowa's offense asks them to run the entire route tree already. I would be suprised to see DJK slide outside of the fourth round when you see the average number of players picked at the position in the last 5 drafts. It is something like 19. I am pretty sure DJK will be amongst the top 19 wideouts. I think he has the potential to go as high as the late 2nd round.
