At least one new face will be joining the Iowa coaching ranks this coming year and that's DJ Hernandez.

Holy ****, he was the UConn QB for a while, that's where I know this name from. He was a ****** QB but pulled a game out of his *** against Pitt in like '06 or '07 that was one of my all time bad beats. So **** this guy.

I totally agree, the walls need to come down at Fort Kinnick. Kirk has become so unpersonable, and his lack of availability has most certainly hurt his coaching credibility.

I am generalizing things here from what I read here at HN but, he comes across arrogant and rude to the fanbase, and becoming defensive and combative answering tough questions makes him unlikeable to most eyes. He has earned all the lashings he takes from fans, his demeanor towards the Iowa media is terrible. I know Kirk appears to be a man of few words but when his football family is being attacked he is the leader who needs to step up and defend his work. There are roles on the team that proving your worth through your work is applicable, but being the CEO of the company requires you to promote through all of the media sources available and improve the business by being the face of University of Iowa.

Please stop hiding in the dark corners at Fort Kinnick Kirk and embrace the technology that we have as a tool to improve this program.

I think this is what the young blood in the program want to do, but Kirk will always keep his things like player transfers and coaching changes his way through press releases first, then once it is out he will allow his coaches/players to tweet about it and post it on facebook.

Where the info comes from doesn't matter to me. I know the journalists get their panties in a fury but who really cares. Prettysure the wisky job broke on Twitter before their press conference two days later.

I agree but we all know Ferentz is Mr. Professional except with the media members who attempt to ask the tough questions.

The fact that a potential recruit, then Brian F saying his dad ain't going nowhere, and now the probable DJ Hernandez coaching hire all tweeting about the things going down in the program has got to irk Kirk to no end. I bet he already has had a talk with both Brian & DJ with regards to what is and is not exceptable on twitter.

I am amazed at the number of people here who can tell me what another person is thinking. Maybe this is the program's way of going around a slow public relations dept. How many non sports matters are out before iowa PR does any release.

Problem is he can't control the use of the internet outside of maybe his current coaches/players (now I know why he doesn't like tech). I don't think he has any idea the amount of info that can be gained from a variety of sources including the prospective coach (Hernandez) and verbal (Powell) themselves in this recent fiasco......let alone outside media that contacts the Hernandez and Powells of the world on a regular basis once they smell smoke.

Not well handled. I get the feeling there was some master plan put together by Ferentz as to when all changes would be announced but then someone threw a couple of hand grenades into the proceedings. Will be interesting to see if there may be some back tracking on the job posting mention if Hernandez is a FT coach.

This guy coached high school for one year, was at freaking Brown for another and then was a GA at Miami for a year.

Seriously people. Wake Up. He has to be coming in as a GA. Anything else makes no sense.

I love the fact that they are getting some young blood on this coaching staff. Bring in new ideas and the "up and coming" for coaches instead of relying on old and "what's worked in the past". Now if only KF would use this approach for his coordinators perhaps they would have an offense that would not make us vomit every game. I hold out hope that GD was only brought back because he wanted to groom Brian 1 more year.

I don't care if our TE's are better than the Patriots TE's next year, I will never support this hire.

The guy is the brother of Aaron Hernandez and B. Ferentz was the tight end coach of the Patriots. It all makes sense and Kirk is trying to make a splash to continue to make TE recruits want to come here. What's wrong with that?

How much do you all want to bet this guy IS NOT getting hired as an AC, but rather a GA?

Seriously! This guy is the next Dan Clark! Were you all up in arms or ecstatic regarding that GA hire?!

The team has not posted an AC opening. They would not have a WR coach. He has one year of experience in D1 as a GA and one year at Brown, and one year in HS.

Did you ever think maybe they hired someone to replace soup and that person wanted and requested Dj to be hired as a GA to help him? I am not saying anything, except it could be and things like that happen all the time.

He brings badly needed recruiting connections from his time in Klagenfurt and links to all the big high school programs in Carinthia.
