DJ Hernandez Quits Coaching

It appears he now works as a project manager for a remodeling company in Dallas and is no longer coaching.

love BHGP, but a Graduate Assistant doing something other FB as a post grad career isn't unusual. The part about being on the website, still listed as a coach...his Graduate Assistantship ended Saturday at teh close of spring classes.

Once GAs are done with the NCAA allowable 2 years, they typically face becoming a gypsy, moving from backwater towns where 1AA, MAC and sunbelt type of schools are, working for little pay with the hopes that someday you'll hit it big. It's not for everyone. Hernandez was a GA, not an assistant coach.

I don't think he had any prospect of climbing up the coaching tree anywhere after everything that went down. Can you imagine a staff meeting where somebody accidentally spills coffee on this guy's notepad?

I don't know the guy, but its to bad he has to pay for his brothers mistakes. He had a lot of time invested in football.

I feel for him if that's why he's getting out of football. He was highly recommended by Brian Ferentz because of his time he spent with him on the Patriots. Seemed like he had a bright future and was starting to build a resume.

Life can be brutally unfair. Two guys with identical credentials after college. Brian ferentz has a dad who hooks him up with the job with the patriots and instantly he has the credibility of that organization. Then his dad hands him an offense of line coach position with the Big Ten school and immediately promotes him.

Hernandez, on the other hand, scraps for minimum wage graduate assistant job and then his brother murders someone.

just like that, Brian has a coaching career path set for the rest of his life. Hernandez is off doing construction work for $40,000 a year. You guys who could have identical ability in the coaching world. Two different paths.

naaah, bruh.........it was more than one.

One wins the genetic lottery and the other has to rebuild his life. Good luck to DJ.

One has to rebuild his life, but I'm not all that sure the other one won the genetic lottery. I'm not sure that they both have identical coaching abilities either. Ferentz reshuffled the entire coaching staff to bring in his son when they signed the guy that just was the top offensive lineman drafted. I think Ferentz senior knew how talented he was. I do think that Ferentz senior is trying to build Ferentz junior resume. The former offensive line coach got moved to the defensive line. It will be interesting to see how the offensive line works now that Ferentz junior has his guys. I'm not so sure it was that great last year.

Saw him a two years ago at airliners. He was creeping outside the girls bathroom just bombed. Asked him about the recruiting job and he says "where is all the p*ssy at??" and said what? and he repeats himself. Get that dude the f away from our program.

Is this really any worse than playing quarterback for some amateur team in Austria like he was doing a few years ago?

Yeah, I'm going to doubt the accuracy of this story seeing as you don't even know the name of the bar you were at.
