"Diving Catch" In Last Night's No-Hitter...

Baseball Tonight is giving Colorado's Dexter Fowler, credit for a "diving catch" during last night no-hitter by Jimenez...and it makes me wonder...How can it be a diving catch if you're feet are on the ground when you catch it???

It was a great, no-hitter saving running catch! The momentum of the catch made him sprawl to the ground AFTER the fact...Gotta love it when ESPN tells you're seeing something you're not...

Ahhh...felt good to do some b!tchin'...wheeew! I'll tackle their soccer coverage next week...

I just saw that too. Ravich even compared it to Dwayne Wise's HR saving catch that preserved Buerhle's perfect game last year. It is all about exaggeration today. Make the story bigger than it really is. Of course, I am just bitter because Jimenez threw the no no against my team. At least I have Ubaldo on my fantasy team! :)

That's just doubley wrong when they're over dramatizing it when it happens against YOUR team!

:p

Was still a great catch though, and the amount of ground he covered was pretty amazing.

No doubt...just don't call it something it wasn't. It'd be like calling an obvious 2 handed catch in football, a 1 handed catch because the receiver stopped the ball with one hand before his second hand helped secure it and reel it in.
