Distractions= no sir I don't like 'em

for what has been setting up as possibly the most exciting year in Hawkeye history...there have been waaay too many distractions in this fall camp...
1. Wegher (just redshirt him already so we can move on...)
2. multiple injuries on the 2-deep
3. media hype
4. suspensions for the 1st game (Binns, Jewel)
5. Leppert/Gray leaving the team...(I understand Gray is probably homesick, but why would Leppert give up at this point in his career?)
I'm more apprehensive than excited....

I don't think Leppert/Gray leaving is a distraction at all, so don't worry about that.

Wegher is as good as done for this year, I think the players are probably aware of that fact. They'll move on, and after the mood that Ferentz's comments gave everyone today, I doubt they'll have to put up with a lot of questions about it from here on out. It's not a 50-50 chance now, more like 2-98 that he comes back.

The injuries happen. Not distractions, especially since Tarp is expected to be back very soon. Not too worried there unless a guy like Sash goes down.

The team seems to be handling the hype/expectations extremely well (NOTHING like 2005 and 2006). This group looks to be on a mission, bound and determined to win a title. They aren't fatcats getting their jollies reading press clippings.

The only thing I'm worried about at all is the suspensions. If the running game stalls against EIU, then there may be some murmors. But still not a huge deal at this point.

Just relax and soak it all in. Take the approach that DJK has taken: embrace the expectations, don't fear them. When we do that, great things will happen.

Distractions are what the coach makes them to be, much like a QB controversy. If you want real controversy go back to '02; that worked fine.
