Disappointed with our "star"

The Hawks really needed to have Uthoff play hard and aggressively but he is being taken out of the game by defenders who are 5-7" shorter...

defensively, low energy and effort across the board. I would sit the starting 5 to send a message just for a few minutes of the 2nd half. Maybe start Clemmons.

These guys lost lost the game between the ears before the ball was tipped off

He's stunk for the last month. I hope he studied, because he isn't playing in this country for money.

Teams have him figured out... They don't respect his ability to drive... Get up in him. Which in turn has forced his shots to be deeper and deeper or fade aways.

No better example than when he was isolated 1-1 with their big man at the top of the key who looks like he weighs 300 lbs... Uthoff takes a dribble or two but rather than being able to either take it all the way to the rim or force a help defender and passing to a teammate for a layup, instead it's a fade away jumper.

Uthoff is still tall enough and a good enough shooter to get points but can't impose his will on a game or on a situation basis.

All displaced anger. The issue is not enough legit power 5 players around him.

I'm not angry but it is a once in a lifetime opportunity that is being squandered by effort? I'm just disappointed with the lack of desire-I will not believe that this team is 30 points worse than Villanova.

To address your point i am ready for some more "bad" players. These guys should be proud of themselves and their families too. That said, as a fan I'm ready for guys who aren't necessarily academic all Americans but are Ed Horton/Kevin Gamble "bad". Andre Woolridge may not have been the best on finals, but I'll take a guy like that at the final seconds every year...

There's clearly a lot between him and Fran, and its been playing out on the court for the past month. SHowed up hugely against Temple, somehow we survived that, but he has really not had much effort today.

What do you mean? He started putting in the effort after the Hawks were down 30+.

Villanova has played a lot of teams that played as bad or close to as bad defense as Iowa played in the first half today and never looked like that. It was once again a perfect storm of iowa not giving enough effort and the opponent playing out of their minds for a half. Same as Gonzaga last year.

That's the life of an Iowa fan. Iowa probably won't play good but the opponent will play their best guaranteed.
