Disappointed in how the Hawks lost

The team quit.. 7 mins to play and they disappeared. Stupid turnovers, lazy around the boards, dumb fouls. No heart. In the end they looked like they expected to lose

Is it fair to question Fran at the end of this game? Gesell sitting... in favor of Oglesby, really? Couldn't rally the guys to step up at the end?

Wow--you must have watched a different game than I did. That team didn't quit at all.

The team quit? Are you kidding me? They wanted it too much. There was too much on the line. Michigan State didn't really care if they won or loss. If they lose, they're probably a 3 seed. Win out and they're a two seed. Iowa needed this game and when Michigan State went on a run they got tight as they've gotten all season. Partially, because the team is young and partially because they're not used to winning. Turnovers have nothing to do with heart, it's a mental mis-step. Boards are similar, lack of positioning, etc. They looked like they expected to lose doesn't mean they weren't trying their hardest to win. They came back from a huge deficit to get within one.

I don't think they quit at all. I think the main reason we lost is we didn't have our best players on the floor when it counted most. They were killing us inside and AW and GO were both sitting on the bench. Just don't get it.

They allowed a 22-2 run by MSU! A combination of lazy ball handling, dumb fouls and questionable personnel on the floor. This was the game to put all the 'bad luck' of this season behind them, instead they quit...

You do not understand the mental and physical aspects of COMPETITION (especially in high pressure circumstances) if you think this team quit.

This is one of the hardest playing/working Iowa basketball teams I've seen in my life. They just can't shoot very well or close out games.

They got beat. They gave their best effort and got beat.

We are not a strong offensive basketball team from half-court sets, and MSU really reduced our transition opportunities.

Just because we sucked it up for the last 10 minutes doesn't mean we quit.

Disagree...this team didn't quit. To suggest otherwise is just wrong

You're alone on this...and wrong...this team had as much fight in them as ive seen in a long ling time...all year.

1. nobody quit, except you. We went on a 7-0 run late in the game. Were you watching, you idiot?
2. Gesell reinjured his foot.
3. God, you are a moron

I didn't even see the game (followed on gametracker) but even I can tell Iowa layed it all on the line.

I'm actually surprised at the support for mediocrity. Not saying they didn't 'want' to win but they mentally checked out, when they needed to equal the intensity of MSU.

Izzo stepped up the intensity and Fran didn't get his guys to respond. They were a step slow when they needed to be quick. They got flat whipped down the stretch and took it with a whimper.

The upside is after a full season now, they should understand what it takes to win in this league.

Still incorrect...but your welcome to your opinion. No one is "accepting mediocrity"...they are refuting you saying the loss had anything to do with giving up.
