Difference between this year and others...

Iowa wins by outworking more talented teams. This year Iowa will be the most talented team in every game except one. If Iowa takes the attitude that they still need to outwork teams because they don't have the talent, I fully expect this season to be the season that will never be forgotten.

Hey Boss .... I agree for the most part. However, I think that it'll take more than hard work though. I think that we're going to need the leaders to step up ... we're going to need the backups to step up when they're require to be the "next men in" ... and we're going to need EVERYBODY to push themselves to add their feel-good story to the season. The more "special stories" of guys asserting themselves to make the team better ... the better the season will be.

The "book" of this season won't write itself ... they guys will have to actively be the authors.

I think that is a key feature that really distinguished the 2009 and led us to having such a special season. Back in '06, guys simply seemed to think that victory would come "just because" .... now guys seem to understand what it takes.

Hey guys. I don't think that we need to worry about this team resting on its laurels being ranked in the top 10 in the first USA Today coaches' poll. Capt. Kirk and Co. will make sure these guys are ready to go every Saturday against all comers and have the exact same attitute they had last season, that they are disrespected and underdogs each and every game. Had Stanzi not got hurt against Northwestern, we probably could've seen the Hawks play the Tide in the National Championship Game. I don't know if they could've won, but they would have given it their all to stop them.

I think the Hawks should end up 11-1 in the regular season at the minimum, conseratively giving Ohio State that game.

I agree; as long as they don't "play like fat cats" this will be a very special season.

And given KF's proven ability to make the proper adjustments, not only will this be one of the most talented Iowa teams ever, they will be the lean and mean team on the field for every game.

remember the 2003/2004 Iowa team? Heck, remember last years team? How many in the NFL?

to say that iowa hasn't played with talented teams is a bit shortsighted. That team that beat LSU on the last play - how many of the starting D played or is still playing in the NFL?

The ball is not round. Even the very best teams have to have a lot of Luck and help from above.
