Dienhart: Coker is the Best RB in the B1G

I concur...Coker is a workhorse...he needs to hit the hole a little harder...but as someone else said...even when he gets stuffed he usually falls forward for a couple yards.

He's only a soph...he's going to be scary good.

The only really good thing to come out of the Minnesota game was watching Coker run.

Props to Coker, he has really stepped his game up. Hes running with vision and confidence which were both lacking early in the year.

Coker may be the best starter in the league, its close between him and Ball, but the crazy thing is he may not be the best back on the team.

Next year will be the best group of backs Iowa has had since Young, Sims and Greene.

What exactly does ''hit the hole a little harder'' mean?
Quicker? Faster?
I think in the zone blocking scheme,he has to hestitate a beat to let them push their guys, then cutback into the hole...now,when he goes wide,he seems to just go...with no hesitation.

I think he just looks like he is gliding, but he is actually moving pretty well.
A little Franco Harris-like....not elegant, but efficient. I think as November wears on,and it gets colder, his style will be even more effective as dbs and lbs start to feel pain of tackling him.

It's nice to see him getting back to running with the ball in one hand instead of obsessing over ball security.

Marcus deserves the praise...he's been getting better as the season rolls along. Dude's a workhorse.

Hes gotten Better as Brad Rogers has gotten back and healthy and getting more use to being our fullback... Brad Rogers is making alot of huge blocks that before the #92 would miss

I think he'll have a great November. Colder weather, he'll get a lot of carries, get into rhythm. He'll knock down some people into the cold, hard turf, and they won't want to come back for more.

Agreed...Rogers has been a monster at FB, but Coker gets the credit too...like others have said, he's done running timid and back to carrying the rock with confidence.

This is just foolish. McCall has all of what, 9 carries on the year? Coker is not even close to being the same back as he was on Sept. 3. He is the best back on this team. Period.

He doesn't really explode through the hole. Shonn Greene could. That's why I don't think Coker will ever be Greene. I still think he's going to be great, but he's not going to be Greene. He just doesn't quite have that quick burst to explode when he sees the hole.

great kid, does his job, delivers hits, big big kid. congrats to him. couldnt happen to a better kid.

Coker is a nice player and is having a great 2nd half to this season, but he still has one fatal flaw that eliminates him from any discussion of the best of anything, and that is his total and utter lack of speed.

He is probably the only starting RB in the B1G that is incapable of turning a gaping hole into a long TD.

He is working really well in Iowa's scheme right now, but saying that he is better than Montee Ball is just foolish and makes me question whether or not the person making that statement has actually seen either of them play.
