Did you guys catch Molly Davis got slapped in the stomach and face and nothing called?

Game started with 6 fouls called me against the Hawks
None against LSU
Officiating like that certainly affected the play of the Hawks from the start and
The entire game
Zebras Killed the Rally for certain with the technical on Caitlin
Still difficult to believe how biased the zebras were for LSU and against the Hawks
Gonna take a while to completely get over this one
Totally incompetent officiating in the Woman's
Championship Game
Still would have been a tall task for the Hawks to win, but they weren't given a chance to compete on an equal basis

100%

Obviously Iowa was not quite good enough to overcome the incompetent, biased, officiating.....but in the Championship Game.....you would think you would get championship level officiating. It was as trashy as Mulkey and her players.....who....in this case....did act like insecure thugs.....doing everything but coming right out and saying they won this for black people. See Angel's comments...."This is for all the people who look like me."

It is sad between the SC coach and LSU they made this game about race. Let's be honest about that.

I also think the SEC vs Big Ten thing was also on full display. Which, if we are honest, is somewhat code for race as well....even though the Big Ten teams have diversity. There is this thought process that the SEC is more athletic, faster, etc. I think they got chippy about Iowa taking out several of their members leading up to this game.

I will be even more frank going back to Angel's comments.....to me I don't think they liked it at all that the white girls from Iowa were getting the spotlight....despite Iowa having diversity on their team. But, because most of Iowa's players are white and theirs are black.....I think they went there and took it personal.

Imagine if Clark and won and said what Angel said. She would need security for awhile where she walks as a certain community would be up in arms.

I also want to be clear, I thought LSU shot more than well enough to win this game in which in they did. They were probably collectively a bit better at 4 spots out of 5 on the floor.....at least most certainly today.

But, when Iowa cut the lead to 7 points....to say officiating did not kept that lead from getting any smaller....I have swamp land to sell you in Louisiana. LSU may have still won the game, but we will never know for sure.

Officiating is not what lost this game. Everyone here bitches about it, but funnily enough no one has ever—EVER—said the Hawks have been on the upside of officiating.

So by that logic you all think that the only team that’s ever gotten screwed, ever, in the history of Hawkeye basketball is the Hawks. That kind of hubris is right up there with flat earth.

LSU was the better team tonight.

Officiating didn't lose the game. It took away the game that fans tuned in to watch. A lot of fans probably tuning in for the first time will also be tuning in for the last time after that crap. The decision to bring in unqualified officials based on sex/race probably set the game back about as far as Clark advanced it this year. Stupid stupid decision.

Never said that, and yes LSU was better.....but the officiating was a factor....Iowa was on a role and got it to 7 when the officials decided to hamper Iowa's stars. LSU may have still won the game....the little guard and the girl with the yellow hair were on fire....but it would have been nice to see what would have happened without the bullshit from the officials.

Iowa was not good enough to overcome it though....and it is Lisa's job now to upgrade the team. They need more height to take it the full distance against teams like this.

I have no issue with any part of the officiating except the Clark T.

The game itself, it was evident by the second quarter they were calling it tight because it was moving too fast for them and they were afraid of losing complete control over it.

But to T Caitlin up after all the crap they were letting Kim Izzo get away with on the bench? Sorry, wrong, wrong, wrong.

If Clark's T was by the book, then Mulkey should have been shown the door before halftime. She wasn't just repeatedly put of the box, she was physically impeding the official as she was trying to do her job.

Watched a lot of video of the T, certainly wasn't egregious, didn't really look intentional to the point of making the ref's look bad, if anything, the ball flip was frustration and nothing more should be read into it. A verbal warning to Caitlin would have been appropriate. The claim that Iowa was warned prior is BS, that was never logged. How many times have we seen a player flip the ball like that and never seen a call?

The dual 4th foul on Iowa's two best players was as effective a rally killer as I have ever seen. Game was over at that point. That Iowa wasn't going to win anyway is a flawed conjecture. That was a heck of a rally and it could have spilled over to the 4th quarter easily. We have all seen that many, many times.

LSU had multiple T's ignored, from Mulkey's living on the court, to slapping an opposing player, to Reese's unsportsmanlike conduct.

IMO it was a "statement game" from the officials, and it also just happened to be a Natty game.

Only consolation I have is visualizing Fran at the helm and his potential reactions. I think we may have seen a new level of Francon! Bluder showed a LOT of class. Disappointing that this discussion should follow a Nat Championship game.

The tech was the worst. But calling 2 offensive fouls like that when you aren't calling the defender getting all handsy on her almost seemed like an agenda was playing out. I'm so torn 50/50 on whether the officials were just out of their league or they had an agenda.

There were so many bad calls on LSU that I lean towards the former. But if the plan was to hide their agenda with some random bad calls on LSU that were more meaningless, then they did a flawless job of executing that plan.

It's also possible that two refs were bad and one had an agenda. I read somewhere that the same ref called all four fouls on Clark. No idea if that's true tho.

The officials were terrible. You can't argue that. LSU shot 13-71 from 3 in the first 5 games of the tournament. They shot 11-17 this game. A girl that hadn't scored in the last 3 games went 5-6 and scored 22 points.

If the refs had called the game tighter, it may have helped Iowa because Angel Reese wouldn't have had 2 fouls, wouldn't have gone to the bench, and the girl that shot lights out wouldn't have come in the game. But if Reese would've stayed in the game, our bigs may have gotten "legit" fouls and would've been on the bench with Reese still in the game.

The game would have been different. Would the outcome have been different? Who knows. If it would've been a 2 point game? There's more room to bitch. A 17 point game? Eh.

Having said that, I still stand by the belief/previous posts that the refs sucked.

Someone from the NCAA officials (not sure the actual position) that was at the game said it was for delay of game. We had already had our warning.

Does anyone know the rule that allowed the LSU coach to challenge the elbow on Monica, I didn’t know that was a thing? A coach can ask but can they run out on the court and demand it? Bluder couldn’t even talk to the refs.

I don't know the rule, but the announcers made it sound like the NFL rule. You can challenge it but it will cost you a time out if you're wrong.
