Did Urban Meyer lie?

I bet he sees his kids more than over the road truck drivers, but I see anyone bashing truckers....There is a lot more to this than anyone will ever know, it seems easy to cast stones though.

He's Type A, it's causing health problems, and it will probably kill him. You don't get rushed to the ER, diagnosed with problems like he has, and kick sand in fate's face. That is a recipe for disaster.

He's a fool. Sometimes quitting is the correct decision. You can't will yourself to not have a heart attack.

I agree with you. Working in the healthcare field, I see far too many people dying at a young age because they ignore their health and the warning signs. I see Meyer doing the same as many young business men/women that end up having heart attacks and other health problems. He is wearing himself out and he apparently has no intentions of stopping at all. I thought it funny that one of the articles said something to the effect of 'this shows his commitment (or lack their of) to his family.'

All of you are missing something.

Sometimes, to really feel respected, you have to tell people that you are going to quit x, y, or z--whatever it is that people expect you to do. Then when you hear how the world will fall apart if you don't do x, y, or z, you feel respected by the people that you feel have under-appreciated you.

Sure, the health and family stuff is part of it, but so is Meyer's ego.

Every man needs to feel respected. And now he does.

It all sounds like anxiety disorder to me. He has "heart attack like symptoms" but his heart "checked out ok." They listed his symptoms and they are consistent with panic attacks if his heart checked out. It's possible his knee jerk reactions to retirement, then a leave of absence, and now a return to the job is part of his anxiety disorder. Somehow I don't think the media or football fans would tolerate that diagnosis on a large scale though.

I agree with that assessment. He needs some medication and counseling if that's the case. If his ego is too big to admit that then he's just reckless as hell. Those panic attacks don't come free of charge, they extract a price from your body.
