I read on a JC recruiting site he was visiting March 7. I think we need a quick guard that can penetrate and allow Gessel to move to the off guard position more than we need another power forward (Atwood) although it would be great to get both
His defense? His free throw percentage? His height? His speed? His jumping ability? You want a high scoring team, don't you? Well, at least Fran does.
Why in the world would you take the ball out of Gesell's hands?

I'm 100% against Mike moving off the ball for the record. For the record, I thought the team was better off with Dev at the point prior to the start of the season and I was wrong so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
I don't understand the angst among fans that getting a guy like Dickerson would mean "taking the ball out of Gesell's hands." Good teams need multiple players who are very good ballhandlers and proficient and creating plays for others. Dickerson and Gesell could play together, much like Gesell and Marble play together this year. The other backcourt options at this point next year are Clemmons (don't know what you are going to get), Oglesby (dribble drive is not his game), and Jok (ditto). This team has an opportunity for playing time to replace Marble's skill set. And that is no knock on any of the other returning players. Oglesby has bounced back in a big way, but asking him to do what Marble does is not fair to him and it won't go well. Jok appears to have some skills, but he hasn't demonstrated anything comparable to Marble's ability to handle the ball. Clemmons would be an obvious candidate, but he's struggled all year.
It's why Iowa was in so hard after Ulis. It's not a knock on Gesell or a slam on his ability. It's the reality of today's game where you need multiple guys on the floor at the same time with a wide variety of skills.
I agree with you Dodger. Another way of saying it is that we need more than just Gesell as a threat off the dribble. If that's the case, then he can be controlled, regardless of his speed. With 2 tough-to-control speedy guys in the backcourt, subbing for and/or playing with each other, the offense becomes as potent as I think Fran would like it to be on a regular basis.I don't understand the angst among fans that getting a guy like Dickerson would mean "taking the ball out of Gesell's hands."
