Des Moines Lincoln High School Coach Update

The Des Moines Public Schools Human Resources Department is a joke, seriously they say corperal punishment because the kid was made to run because he messed up. To me the kid got minimal punishment for the crap he did. The kid and his mommy should be ashamed of themselves here....good lord what a total joke this is.

Rumors have swirled for a few weeks that the DMPS have been looking for something to nail Mihalovich on for awhile. Apparently there are some that don't like some things about his program and the KeeVon Bernstine "incident" in 2011 was the last straw, but this was the issue that they knew they could get him on.

Like I said, just a rumor, but never underestimate the deeper politics in this sort of thing.

Did you read the entire complaint against the guy? He sounds like a raving lunatic.

Did you read the part about this fine coaches Chris Street drill? This guy deserves everything he has coming to him.

I have read the complaints about him. He sounds like a typical high school football coach, granted "raving lunatic" and "typical high school football coach" aren't necessarily mutually exclusive terms.

What? They made him run? Oh, the humanity!!!

Corporal punishment ain't what it used to be.

There are three problems with what he did. One, he read a tweet from a kid on the Sophomore team and got butt hurt about it instead of ignoring it like an adult. Two, rather than dealing with it in private like a man, he pulled him away from Sophomore practice, stood him in front of the varsity, and tried to make his entire team aggressive towards one student (basically abusing his authority as coach to settle a score). Three, he tried to get the kid to work out until the varsity practice ended, so the varsity players could kick his *** in the locker room.

I have zero problem with him making him run hills. That should have been the one and only punishment he faced. Basically inviting the varsity team to beat the hell out of him is beyond the pale, psycho behavior that has no place in coaching or education.

Didn't play football growing up I take it Ghost?

At 1st I thought this was ridiculous and some player couldn't handle the punishment. After reading it this guy is just bat nuts bonkers.

You once again prove how out of touch with reality you really are.

How this guy is anywhere near a school is beyond me. The "Chris Street drill" alone makes me want to ambush with a group vigilantes. What a P.O.S.

So it is just par for the course for coaches to encourage his team to lynch a player on the sophomore team? Game has changed in the last 15 years. I guess I am that out of touch with reality...I expect coaches to act like adults and not psycho bullies. I'll bet all my sons turn out teh ghey.

When I played football in college if someone got into trouble everyone met on Sunday morning at 5 am to run a 50 yard sprint for every senior that was on the team. It's called a punishment and they go hand in hand with sports when you do something stupid. It's unfortunate that this day and age parents are buying into the entitlement crap and doing nothing but making it worse.

I also think that the school is using the news anchor hoopla that's currently going on to make their decision look that much better. Then they throw out the bullying card.

I feel like all parties; the coach, the player, the players family, the school are all just pathetic in their own unique ways.

Can't wait for the lawsuits!

No, it's bullying. Bullying is using your power to pick on someone weaker than you. Punishment is making him run hills. Bullying is encouraging the varsity team to kick his ***.

I'm sure Chris Street's family will be thrilled to learn this moron devised a way to remember Chris. I don't care how much Testosterone this guy thinks he has. Anyone who goes there for any reason has issues beyond football. He's the type of coach I wouldn't have any respect for and I knew a few who were childish morons who liked hanging with their players. I also had the pleasure of playing for one of best HS coaches in the nation...he would have never allowed this to happen...he would have dealt with it in person and worked to change the behavior like an adult.
