I did not know Kyle had died until now. I googled him and saw he was out jogging in Arizona and was hit by a train.

Roy passed on my fiftieth birthday. In addition to seeing many his games I got to meet Roy once, at Dubuque Wahlert high school when he was helping Acie Earl run his ill fated basketball camp. (I met Acie, Kenyon Murray and Brian Garner at that same camp).

I was sitting in the bleachers talking 1980's Iowa basketball with one of the best players of that era. Was that cool or what?

I knew Roy, he was a very nice guy but had serious alcohol and drug problems. It ruined his NBA career and he had a lot of issues while living in Cedar Rapids. He had one to many DUI and was sent to a prison down in Kansas for a while. He had that bar called Legends in downtown CR for a while. I think someone got shot right outside it one night.

He lost his bar in the historic flood of 2008 and doubt that he had flood insurance. How many different women did he have kids with? I want to say at least three. That's not cheap. Yeah, he was dealt some hard knocks, culminating in the cancer that claimed his life.
