Depth is Overrated

I think that "depth" is the most overrated word in basketball. I want 7 or 8 guys i know that I can count on. You need guys who can play multiple positions( at least 2 out of 5). If any of those 7 or 8 guys can score double digits and actually guard someone, that is much more valuable than having 10-11 guys play. I never understand iowa's lineups and frankly defensively we look lost on many trips down the floor. What was iowa's highest scoring team of all time? Wasn't it in 1970 when they played 5-6 guys? The game hasn't changed that much. You still shoot,guard, and run up and down the court. I think that we just don't have guys talented enough to play 35 minutes a game. When it comes tournament time do you really want to see our 9-11 guys playing significant minutes. I don't think i do. They may be able to spell for 3-4 minutes, but that is about all.

I agree. Our starters less Woodbury are playing well. The 2nd team is killing iowa

In conference we run a 9 man rotation. of those 9 players only 4 play predominantly 1 position. And of those 4 that play 1 position 2 of them are centers which most true centers only play center.

mccabe - 16 min plays sf, pf

iowa plays the guys that are playing the best most nights and actually one of those nine gets shorted each night as others get more because they are playing better and it is usually an 8 man rotation when you look at the box score. Haven't played 10/11 since ooc schedule. Heck clemmons isn't even in the rotation this yr and he started at times last yr.
