I think that "depth" is the most overrated word in basketball. I want 7 or 8 guys i know that I can count on. You need guys who can play multiple positions( at least 2 out of 5). If any of those 7 or 8 guys can score double digits and actually guard someone, that is much more valuable than having 10-11 guys play. I never understand iowa's lineups and frankly defensively we look lost on many trips down the floor. What was iowa's highest scoring team of all time? Wasn't it in 1970 when they played 5-6 guys? The game hasn't changed that much. You still shoot, guard, and run up and down the court. I think that we just don't have guys talented enough to play 35 minutes a game. When it comes tournament time do you really want to see our 9-11 guys playing significant minutes. I don't think i do. They may be able to spell for 3-4 minutes, but that is about all.
