Depth Chart for Penn State

So next year gets interesting assuming Snyder comes back healthy. Taylor is lost to graduation, but you would return Hooker, Gervasse, Snyder, and Stone. Considering that their OLB position is more of a "slot corner" than an "in-the-box LB", I wonder what the chances would be of either Gervasse or Snyder sliding to that position. This is kind of what they did with Djimon Colbert, except they just accelerated his move (fall camp of freshman year).

One thing is for certain, you cannot have enough good safeties and LBs on your team; they make up the core of most of your special teams units.

I kind of forgot about Snyder. He's an upgrade from Gervase and Taylor but I was still never sold on him either.

What I find kind of interesting is with all the CB depth we will have Josh Jackson could be a very good safety. He's long with good ball skills and appears to be a solid tackler. We would have Rugamba, Hankins, OJ, and the newcomer from Indy as potential cornerback options. Problem is Josh Jackson has probably been our best defensive player this year at corner so I'm an idiot for even mentioning a position change!!

I think Hooker just passed Gervase overall. KF and Parker have shown they aren't going to just pull a guy out of a starting spot permanently for a mistake or two. If they are the overall better option, they stick with them. There was a reason Hooker didn't RS last year, and that was because he was good. I'm betting he has been gaining the coaches trust more and more, and they feel he gives Iowa the best chance to win right now.

From what i saw, Hooker was usually on the spot and he brought the wood when he arrived. He just might be the next hard hitting S for Iowa. When Iowa has "that" S; who's never late to cover, never misses a coverage or a tackle, we can dominate.

Not unprecedented though, they tried that with Hyde his senior year. They ended up moving him back, but they at least were willing to try it.

I like the move last week and this week. And putting Stone in there can't hurt. Great to see that changes are willing to be made
