He blew a coverage by a mile before the swap with Hooker; I'm not Phil Parker but I'm sure that one didn't make him feel warm and fuzzy.Interesting to me that Gervase was moved completely out of the FS spot. I wonder if his backend calls just weren't good as the FS spot has a lot of responsibility with coverage calls....

I'd agree, I just think that might be evidence of something not clicking. It's one thing to whiff on the play. But to not only lose your starter job, but lose your position, tells me there was more going on than just whiffing on a running play...

He played most of the 2nd half against N Texas and the defense looked better.

Who did? Gervase? I didn't see him at all after he got yanked for Hooker....

I think Hooker just passed Gervase overall. KF and Parker have shown they aren't going to just pull a guy out of a starting spot permanently for a mistake or two. If they are the overall better option, they stick with them. There was a reason Hooker didn't RS last year, and that was because he was good. I'm betting he has been gaining the coaches trust more and more, and they feel he gives Iowa the best chance to win right now.
This has to be some sort of record for most 1st and 2nd year guys in the two deeps. Exciting for the future for sure.Looking at the depth chart each week makes me feel better and better about next season. After seeing the young potential at RB, WR, DL, and even OL (Jackson and Wirfs), the only glaring concern is that we lose every single linebacker
