DePaul is hirng Clemson BB coach,Oliver Purnell, with a 7 yr,15 million dollar deal.
I think Jean Lenti-Ponsetti might have put herself in a trick box when early on she said they were going after a big name and would pay top 3 salary in the Big East. Then, big names started using DePaul for leverage at their own schools, like Dixon, and the market dried up. So, she had to reach for a BCS school coach and finally found one willing to take the big money to come to Chicago.

Fran vs Oliver? It will be interesting to watch the two programs progress.
Fran makes half the money, but I think he has a slightly easier task.
But, in the end, salaries do not really matter...just wins.

I'll take Fran, Clemson has started off 17-0 in 06-07 and 16-0 in 08-09 and really choked the chicken. 06-07 they lost in the NIT Championship(idk how you start 17-0 and dont make the ncaa) and in 08-09 they lost in the first round. Fran may have only gotten out of the first round once or twice but at least hes not drinking glasses of choke.

This hiring came out of no where. Purnell has very little history in the Upper Midwest so it should be interesting to see how he fits in there. That being said I am sure there were Clemson fans who got tired of him losing in the first round of the NCAA's every season. Maybe they will go after Lick next.

I'm sure Alfraud will find a way to use the Clemson opening as leverage for even more money. Oh wait, Clemson is a football school.....
