Demand for B1G title game? Anyone else dumping tix?

It really boils down to the fact that the winner of the game isn't guaranteed a playoff spot. If Wisconsin and Penn State both had one loss and their fans knew for a fact that a win meant playoffs, I think you'd for sure be in a position to at least make your money back.

It probably hurts when the playoff committee just said winning the conference championship of easily by far the toughest conference won't get you into the final four unless one of two lesser conferences have favorites lose -- oh, and the 3rd place division team is ranked a spot higher than the teams playing for the championship.

For all the talk from the committee about winning your conference and strength of schedule ... does not mean a thing.

It's for blue bloods unless a team makes it impossible to turn them away -- that's why Iowa hate was over the top in 2015.
Hate on OSU all you want but they have the better sos Then both of the teams in the championship game, they also have one less loss . Their only loss was to Penn St. on what was arguably a fluke play. I don't see any reason to take either of these teams instead of OSU, or clemson or washington as all of these teams only have one loss.

The "hate on Iowa" last season was from the media not the committee, had we won the championship game we'd of got in (and been embarrassed/exposed just like we were against Stanford).

There is just something counterintuitive to me that mentally I can't get past about a team playing in the CFP (and logically therefore for the national championship) without even making it to its own conference championship game. It basically quashes the meaning of the B1G Championship. Okay, great, you can call yourself the B1G Champion if you win, but everyone knows that the focus of college football is now squarely on the Playoffs. It's like a consolation prize for Wisconsin and PSU now despite having great seasons. I can guarantee (well, or at least make a strong argument) that an 11-1 Iowa team will NEVER make the Playoffs without playing in and winning the B1G Championship no matter how strong its schedule is. I love college football, but professional sports has such a better post-season mechanism than college football. You get in based on your merits, and only your merits, not some existential "brand" power or "style" concepts or "talent" perception.

Spot on. Until this thing expands, and the playing field is level for everyone it will be this way. No NFL team, or MLB team or NBA team plays an equal schedule, and you don't see them getting into the playoffs because of a stronger or weaker SOS. Play the games, win you division, that is the bottom line.

Wisconsin and Penn State had their shot. They lost twice. Wisconsin was beat by Ohio State and Michigan. They had their shot. Nobody to blame but themselves. Penn State was massacred by Michigan and lost to Pitt. Had their shot too.

If they don't like that, win your games like Iowa did last year. Iowa forced their way into the top 4 by just winning. Created a chance to win and get in.

There is nothing special about Wisconsin - Penn State...congrats to them for making it...but no football playoff opportunity...they were beaten (Wisconsin twice in the B10), by other good teams in the conference. Anyone outside of Penn State pretty much has a hard time rooting for Penn State. Last year the story of the B10 Championship had a Cinderella story line...hence the interest and the ticket prices. This year it's like 45 year old George Foreman fighting a 50 year old Jerry Quarry. Will I watch...yes...will I pay to watch...no.

Hell, if anything, it's BETTER for Ohio State that they're not playing in the B1G Championship. That's actually the preferable outcome for them. Sit at home, relax and enjoy the game without having to risk a loss and still make the playoffs. Losing to PSU was the best thing that could have happened to them.
