Delany confirms that outside of existing contracts, Big Ten ADs have committed to scheduling no more FCS games beginning next season.

Delany says existing contracts with FCS teams in 2016/beyond will be looked at for exceptions. Iowa has NDSU (FCS) in 2016, '18.

Jim Delany says in 2016, B1G will play 1 intersectional game vs. Power 5, 9 conferences games & 0 games vs. FCS

With 9 conference games playing the clowns less is a good idea so that there are still enough home games. Otherwise that would pretty much have to be the required power 5 conference game every year, with the other 2 teams having to come to Kinnick only. I'd say play the clowns every other or every 4 years only.

I am confused. Is Iowa still playing NDSU in 2016 and UNI in 2018? Why is Delaney saying 0 FCS games in 2016?

He was saying there's an agreement between ADs that starting in 2016, the B1G won't be playing FCS teams and that they would take a look at the contracts currently in place for 2016 and beyond. Then Barta said this afternoon that nothing will happen Iowa's current FCS contracts.

ok got it. except for existing contracts, Going forward, starting in 2016, no more FCS games. So the UNI game in 2018 will probably be Iowa's last FCS game for a long, long time.

They better not lose that game. No chance for redemption if they do.

The Haves just >>> then the Have-Nots.

He needs to ring the bell on two more things:

#1--An immediate expansion of the playoffs to 8 teams, and
#2--Seven game win minimum for any bowl game (including .500 or better conf record)

Just won't seem like a typical Kirk Ferentz season without him being able to pad his W-L record with an FCS "gimme."

Money says he dumps one before these can play out if he, god forbid, is still here through the end of these.

Delany has more than enough power. When he starts telling us who we can schedule, that is over reach. I am NOT arguing for playing FCS schools, but rather saying that we should decide, not Delany. The same should be said of how many games you need to win to be bowl eligible That is not his business. Each individual bowl, as well as invited participants, should make that decision. Again, I am in favor of the 7 win rule...but not Delany deciding. BTW, the coaches voted NO 14-0 on going to 9 conference games. Maybe they know more than Delany what should fly and what should be grounded. Yes: I am purposely as a childish act, misspelling Delaney's name.

Further down in his remarks, Delaney also added, "This is necessary, in part, due to some of our Athletic Directors that are foolish enough, not only to schedule an FCS team, but one that has a good chance to beat them on their home field. The classic no-win situation for his program and for the conference. I'm not naming any names, but his initials are GB. We can't have this kind of idiocy going on in our conference."

No, he didn't say that...but he should have.

The cities that host bowl games featuring 6-6 teams wouldn't stand for a 7 win minimum.

I hate have N.Dakota or any successful FCS team on Iowa's schedule. The only reason they are on Iowa's schedule is because Barta and his new hire want to do something nice for their previous employer. That is really special, but maybe there should be more focus on what is best for Iowa? Or Iowa Fans? Hmmm, game against Arkansas or Oklahoma (w/ head coaching ties to Iowa) or N.Dakota...personally, I think Iowa, with it's current roster would probably struggle with all of those teams. The fans sure would be more excited for the Razorbacks or Sooners, though.

I'll say it again. You'd have to be an idiot to schedule an FCS team with the history of beating FBS teams that NDSU has. It's an absolute NO WIN for Iowa...NDSU has everything to gain.

But this is the same guy who signed the ridiculous one-sided contract with KFz. If nothing else, he's consistent.

Bye, bye, UNI
it's really too bad that we can't say good bye to Cy, instead
I have to agree. ISU can't beat FCS teams but every other year or so Iowa gives them them the game like last year. Last year they lost to 2 FCS teams and got trashed by 20 against Kansas. Yet they claim to be a power 5 team and think they're clearly above Kansas and Iowa along with the entire BIG.
