"Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany reportedly is lobbying hard in negotiations with the television networks to do away with them. If Delany has his way, all Big Ten games next season will start at either noon, 3:30 p.m. or 7 p.m."

Big Ten starting times up for debate

What do you think of those times?

I really do not mind the 11am start and I live over 5 hours away from Kinnick..I just come up Fri night and plan accordingly. I have a hard time believing a one hour difference really makes much of a difference for most.

I think its the right way to do if. There is a reason the NFL does it this way. It maximizes tv viewers, exposure, and ad revenue.

I like it. I feel like sometimes with an 11 AM start time, the rest of the nation misses out on those games. Plus, tailgaters should love it.

I like it the way it is. When I get up on Saturday, I am ready for football to start. I'd prefer 10am over 12pm. Then again, I don't have a drunkness goal to reach before the game.

Fans and players are more pumped up with later start times and there is a lot more energy in the place.

I would love this. The extra hour to tailgate would be awesome. 11am games are too early. Noon is much better. That extra hour would make a significant difference for many. I hope this happens.

Are those times in the QC article Eastern or Central time? The Big 10 can dictate the start time for games on Big 10 Network, so noon & 7pm (CT) won't be an issue, but a 3:30 game (CT) on ABC when all the other games on ABC at 2:30 (CT) is what's throwing me here.

Edit: Not to mention a 3:30pm (CT) Big 10 game on ABC all but kills early evening newscast on ABC affiliates because as in this situation, once the 3:30 game ends, it's right into the primetime window at 7pm (CT).

Grant that no one in Des Moines would even notice that WOI isn't running an early evening newscast, but in a market like Omaha were the number one newscast is the ABC affiliate, that could be an issue.

You're right. The ABC afternoon window with Big Ten/big 12/ACC games is 2:30. So what would they do, show the Big 12 game for an hour in that coverage area and then switch over at 3:30? No way ABC goes for this. I'm sure the BTN starting times will get changed and I like that move, I like noon and 3:30 instead of 11 and 2:30

Please do it,Delany! I used to love the 1PM starts and the noon starts would be close to the same. Especially in late fall, it is warmer that time of the day.

Plus, more time for pregame frivolity...all good.
