King and Draper will both look better when/if Lomax gets healthy and bumps them both down the CB hierarchy.
What's frustrating is that it's Lowery getting beat deep more than King. I remember King giving up one long TD throw in his first start but the rest have been to the other side with Lowery. But then lowery has also made some really good plays. He just needs to think more about when he is agressive.
So Hawkeynation.....in two weeks when we travel to Columbus.....will Braxton Miller end up like 16-21, 365 yds and 6 td's?
Anyone see that young man out there on Saturday. He struggled mightly. Wonder if we'll see him again. Does he play same position as Nico?
Memo to Phil Parker:
YOU NEED TO PLAY ZONE.
yea how come it seems like we are playing next to none of this when other years it seemed like that is all we played
While this is generally true, Draper had an awful series in the second quarter. First, he has Bennie Fowler completely wrapped up several yards short of the first down marker on 3rd and 6, and lets him slip out and pick up the first down. Then, just four plays later, he gets horrendously burned and allows a big pass to be completed, then has a chance to make the touchdown-saving tackle and just goes all two-hand touch and lets the receiver waltz into the endzone.
Hard to imagine a worse series for a defensive back than what Draper had.
The play he got burned on was a pick play, and he got caught. The receiver ran to the area of the field vacated by the blitzing Miller. It was a good play run by MSU (and one that caught us in a very vulnerable position), but Draper definitely made it far worse by not tackling (on either play). I remember yelling at the tv that he was playing two hand touch, also. Lol
The second missed tackle was brutal. He barely reached out and touched the guy before reeling back and stumbling over himself. It was the most pathetic attempt at a tackle I've ever seen.
The difference was that King was making his tackles. MSU was picking on him and he played well. Actually reminded me of Hyde in 2010. He took a lot of flack because of occasional blown coverage but was a sure tackler. Draper not so much on Saturday.King has been getting a ton of time too. And taking a lot of heat. They both will take their licks this year and hopefully be better next year for it.
They lack the talent and/or experience to play man coverage right now.Now we are complaining about the coaches changing things? I thought the memo said that I had to complain how they're stale and predictable.
