Defense

I’m curious to see going into next year if Fran continues to focus on defense. Seems like the only option when you don’t have elite talent. Trading baskets at a high rate isn’t going to get it done in the B10.

in my opinion, fran's model of having long, lean, 3 positional players was done at the cost of perimeter foot speed and quickness. with the signing of Toussaint, i hope this means fran is changing his posture and now is embracing defense like beilein did at UM. we need actual perimeter players with the required foot speed/quickness to play defense and take their man off the dribble. fran is really going after guards for '20 and i think could take two guards. we shall see.

Defense is a must in the Big Ten. Playing "fast" when the situation arises if fine, but it can't be done if you're going to sacrifice playing defense. Over the course of the BT conference season, you'll get eaten up and spit out, if you don't play defense. I hope it continues.
