Defend this staff

U guys funny. Staff didnt turn ball over twice and commit 100+ yards of penalties.

He players are far from blameless. They should be held accountable for their actions. But a lack of discipline also lays on the shoulders of the coaches, much more so than poor execution does.

Sorry, but a program like Iowa should be able to do that and still beat Central Mich. by at least 2 TDs. Either we don't have the talent necessary (on the coaches) or we were ill prepared (on the coaches.)

I defend this staff

Again not sticking up for the coaches, but we act as though it's a common thing for this team to have that many turnovers for that many yards.

The staff can't be defended for recent results.

It is their job to get recruits that can/will remain an Iowa Hawkeye and be able to compete on the field.
It is their job to coach to the strengths of the players they have on the team.
It is their job to know the rules of the football game.
It is their job to use timeouts effeciently and at appropriate times.
It is their job to know proper clock management.

The only defense is that Ferentz and the staff has had Iowa to top tier levels 8-10 years ago and a flawed "resurgence" 2-3 years ago. If past performance is indicative of future results, then there is a reason to believe.

But this inane tendency to lose to teams the Hawks should not lose to has got to stop. Now. There is no defense of that.

NOt about to defend the coaches, but ask at what time do we put it on the team rather than simply the coaches. 100+ yards in penalties, failing to recover an onside kick, and let's not forget a QB that is currently on pace to finish the season with 3 TD passes.
Yeah, let's put this one soley on the coaches.

So this is the third sucky team in a row? Why do these coaches keep bringing kids that suck at football? Yes this is on the coaches. There is a lot of talent on the last three Iowa teams. They shouldnt lose to the worst teams in the country EVERY Fing year.

Kurt told them to win big today, players didn't listen. That's football. Not Kurt's fault.

NOBODY makes Central Michigan look good like these guys can.

Edit: they can also make ISU and Minnie look g.ood, so they have versatility working for them too.

As I said on the other site, past behavior is a good predictor of future behavior. What we see is what we get. This isn't surprising but it is very disappointing.

After the terrible losses to Minnesota and Iowa State in recently years, we now have sunk to the level of losing to Central Michigan at home. I never thought the Western Michigan debacle would have been topped either but it has.

Kirk Ferentz, you simply make too much money for these garbage results.

I'd love to hear someone defend a staff who crapped the bed today in just about every way possible. Offense, defense, and special teams. Oh, and let's not forget epic clock management again.

I've stuck up for Ferentz in the past but I am officially done with him and his decisions. Greg Davis was a nightmare, and the program has gotten worse since 2008.

Fire away.
I posted this before I was banned and I was 100% right.

I read the first post not even paying attention to when it was written. I was nodding my head and agreeing with most everything.

It's pathetic that it was written 2 years ago.

You may have been a bit forward in the rationale then (albeit troubling then as well), but now after two more years of it... It is time.

I was banned for calling out poor play by the basketball team. Strangely I have been very critical of Ferentz for 2 years now and wasn't punished for that.

That's probably because Jon is more of a basketball fan. ;) Seriously, I enjoy our bball coaching FAR greater than our football coaching. Plus they have cojones, which our football staff seems to lack. Not to mention our bball has an exciting brand of play, football is the inverse.

prophetic. like something from scripture written ages ago. not entirely understood in its day , and still not grasped by all. but time has show in to be true. Iowa needs a messiah.
