David Kenney Decommits

I think it has a lot to do with his dad being at Indiana. And it's not like Iowa is empty at DL. They are redshirting two, four-star DL in Johnson and Ekakitie and the DL growth this year has been very encouraging. Odds were strong that Kenny wouldn't have played next year.
Those guys are DT's, most likely. Would've been nice to get a DE that looked like he had some moves.

Am I wrong? The 04, 05, and even the 06 classes created the great run in 08 and 09. The bad run 07, 08, and 09 classes created the mess we are in now. The 10 and 11 classes should propel us back to some good years but this stretch of mediocrity or worse we are witnessing now will undoubtably create classes that will prevent us from staying higher in the B1G.

That's just football. I think this class is gonna be alright without Kozan 2.0

At least the staff has time to find other players. I don't think you need to beat up on a kid who decides to go play for his dad.

Agreed. People have known about this for weeks if not months, and now that Kaz is gone, I think IA is on the upswing on the DL. Throw in there are a number of underclassmen in the pipeline, and while it would have been great to get Kenney, no need losing sleep over this one. (I think just getting rid of Kaz was as important as any recruit, though. Dude was a cancer that needed excised, and fortunately the DL can now move on from his disastrous years.)

I have heard Saban and Meyer are working phones right now to ring fence their players because they have heard KF is now in the market for a game changing lineman. Stay tuned.

Putting myself in his shoes, it would be hard not to want to spend that experience around my dad. I probly wouldn't have recognized it at 18 but certainly do now

Yeah, honestly I'm happier knowing that he wants to be around his dad than be a hawk. Good for him.

LoL what a stupid decision leaving Iowa to got play for a crap program like Indiana...

When was the last time Iowa put up 49 on Ohio State? When was the last time Indiana put up 49 on Ohio State? Indiana might be a few good defensive players away from being pretty good.

I've watched a couple Indiana games now this year and I won't be surprised if they beat us.

This is why Iowa is stuck in this cycle of on/off years. Now Iowa is going to dive into a two to three year stretch of mediocre recruiting.

Exactly right. This team right now has the young talent to return to double digit wins seasons in a year or two but three straight seasons of 5 or more losses is going to create another low talent bubble that will rear its head again in 4 years and the cycle will keep repeating.

Thats why 2010 was such a crucial failure.

If you make good on that season and go to another BCS bowl you build up a cache of credibility with recruits. Falling flat on your face, when for once you are expected to go to a BCS bowl, has the opposite effect.

Bad for him, Iowa's D is going to be stellar the next couple of years. He could have been part of it. I doubt Indiana will get him to the next level.

I think Iowa will be fine. I like McMinn at DE, and I think Ott will have the same time of skill package and will be a good one. Also, I think Ekakite may stay outside, and you put Johnson and Cooper in the middle. I think the DL would be ok. I liked the kids athleticism and the big reason he committed to Iowa was they looked past his height that some were having issues with. If he commits to IU to play with his dad that's great. If he commits to nebby sicne they just offered I will be ******. That means he committed to Iowa to have a spot but waited to get a better offer. I don't think tha tis the case, but you never know.

I hope we kill Indiana.

Yes, yes you are. Kurt's first three classes were last, second to last and 6th in BT recruiting rankings and you know the success they had on the field 02 through 04.

Like. And the heralded members of the 2005 class who were hyped up by the Postman from Palatine didn't figure much into the 2008-2009 run.
