Dave Revsine puts Iowa's 2010 Class Top 30 as well

Iowa: The win over Penn State this weekend was a huge one. And, it wasn't just that the Hawks won, it was how they won. It would have been really easy to fold up the tent after that start – but they did just the opposite. I thought they also raised some eyebrows with a solid comeback on the road against MSU on Wednesday.

I've been really impressed with the athleticism of Eric May as well as the sudden improvement of Aaron Fuller. Look, it would be disingenuous to say that everything is going according to plan in Iowa City. But when you add in a recruiting class that's ranked in the Top 30 in the nation for next season, it's far from a stretch to say that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Is there a consensus that Iowa's class is Top 30 now? I've been trying to put this to bed for awhile. I'm not sure I can continue to put up any more sources in this regard without being redundant. Pretty much everywhere I have read and people who do recruiting full-time put Iowa's class in the Top 30 range. Just hope people believe me now.

I will believe you after the spring signing period when everyone's classes are complete and the rankings still say the same thing.

Dave Revsine - that guy who knows college basketball recruiting so well.

Oh, and he works on a network devoted to Big Ten sports.

Much Ado About Nothing.

I don't agree that Iowa is top 30. In fact, the unfortunate truth is that our recruiting class next year (although solid for us) is at the mid to bottom tier of the Big Ten. According to ESPNU recruiting rankings (link below), our 4 recruits average grade is 88.67. Only Minnesota and Northwestern have a worse average grade (88 apiece). That is 9th best in the Big Ten alone. Now that doesn't mean Iowa's overall class is 9th best in the Big Ten when you consider # of signees, but when you look at it, we certainly are worse than Ohio St, Illinois, Michigan St, Michigan, and Purdue. So at best you are talking the #6 class in the Big Ten. And that might be too generous. We have a good class coming in though, and hopefully they can help get us back on track, but we still have a long ways to go to catch up to the rest of the Big Ten in recruiting and on the court.

You are fighting the good fight Stormin, but lets face it you simply won't win over some people on this board on this issue. These are probably the same people who said that Eric May wasn't a Big 10 player, because he wasn't recruited by anyone else, and was only a 2 star guy. I wonder if those people still feel that way, as I think it is pretty obvious that Eric May has proven that he has as much athleticism as most in the Big 10 if not more.

Just wondering how high you think this class will propel the Hawks next season?

Revsine isn't ranking Iowa's class. He is passing along what he has heard others say. I doubt Dave ranks recruiting classes.

That's good then. The info out there is correct.
Doyle said the same thing when he was doing PbP for an Iowa game.

Wherever they are getting their info from (internally/externally), they are passing it along as acceptable information. That's all I want out of it.

Fan just need to realize that the 2010 class coming in is solid and will, in fact, be a building block for this program. If this class isn't the aforementioned, Lickliter won't survive at Iowa.

I am really looking forward to seeing next year's class on campus...quite a bit.

Revsine didn't say he thought that Iowa's class was top 30. He is just regurgitating someone else's ranking/thought. Maybe he read your blog.

I pretty much gotten to the point where I don't even care about the program turning things around for the sake of needing things to turn around and to be able to enjoy Iowa BB again; I just want the program (with Lick at the helm, mind you) to incontrovertably improve solely out of spite for all the petulent angry weirdos on here constantly flailing about with their backbiting umbrage and bluster. The angry mob mentality and endless brandishing of internet pitchforks & torches has grown migraine-inducingly tiresome.
