Jeez, Roy as a true frosh starting at pg this year. And he has Paige coming in in 2012. And he seems to be pursuing a pg out of LaCrosse, wisconsin in the 2012 class also. And he is after Colvin along with these two guards out of Idaho....

Is there a total dearth of pgs in the country the next two years or something?
Does Williams want 7 pgs? He loses Larry Drew and suddenly he is after pgs all over the map.
Hey,Marcus Paige,I hope you are paying attention...this guy will recruit right over you and you will be shoved aside if you cannot beat out a half dozen guys.

FYI - You can pursue more than one target. It sounds like he wants one more PG and has cast a wide net. No biggie.

Exactly. Interest isn't tantamount to anything substantial. Eventually it could be, but right now this is hardly anything to fret over.

UNC only has 1 pg on its roster right now. With Paige coming in 2012 a juco point makes perfect sense for them. Anyways, I am not too worried about UNC right now. Everyone in North Carolina seems to think Sam Grooms is their top target.

As much as I hate Roy for always stealing the top Iowa talent, it is a smart move to go after many pg's for one position. It puts him in a place of power. "Well if you really want to come to UNC, you got to commit before any of our other recruits do so. If you do we will take you and we won't recruit any other point guards".

news flash to JHHawk.

People that commit to the UNCs, Dukes and Kentuckys of college basketball aren't worried about commiting there and getting beaten out. They welcome the best players in the country to come there because they are in that elite category themselves and don't concern themselves with strong competition because it makes them better.

The only people that worry about this sort of thing are the ones that don't think like that, Larry Drew Jr. is evidently one of those types. If you don't welcome that challenge then you shouldn't commit to those schools. Most people that commit realize this.

Actually, many of these players going to Ky assume they will be coming out after one year,so they do not care if they are pursuing the next great thing. Like John Wall did not care that Brandon Knight was coming in...but if Wall had stayed, no way does Knight go to Ky. That is why a lot of these top rated players are waiting til spring to commit...so they know who they can play for immediately...a la Josh Selby at KU.

Paige is not at that level. And admittedly,UNC guys do not seem to come out after one year like the Ky guys. If Kyrie Irving had chosen UNC and was not planning to come out after one year, you can bet that Paige would have taken that into consideration.

These guys are not stupid, they play vs everyone in the summer, and they know who is better than them.
