You meant two decades as far as KF is concerned. That would be forty years (four decades).
I don't hate KF as a coach. Just because I think the offense needs a serious upgrade or a major makeover doesn’t mean I hate him. Where did our offense finish this year? I honestly don’t know but I’ve read rankings in the 60’s and Surely that is not meeting anyone’s standards unless your an Iowa State fan. We should at least hold a place in the top forty every year and that’s being very generous.
Change up the offense a little so we aren’t so predictable and do audibles into pass plays. Throw over the top of the seven men in the box, or run some deep slants just behind the linebackers. Put five receivers out when their defense puts seven in the box and only have the QB in the backfield. A few of those and they will change up their defense in a hurry. Two receivers on the short on the short side of the field and three on the wide side. If they stay with seven in the box we will have at least one receiver uncovered. The QB does a three count and quickly throws the ball if they blitz. Usually you can see the linebackers starting to cheat up and you call out an audible for a quick slant. We did this against LSU in the capital one bowl game we won and it went for two large gainers and one was like a seventy yard TD.
The key to a successful QB is of course a strong and accurate arm but more importantly is having a QB who can think quickly and throw the ball quickly. This killed BYU this past season. Their QB held the ball way too long for way too many plays. He had receivers break into the open but he held the ball too long. One thousand one, one thousand two, one thousand three THROW it. The offensive receiver has a huge advantage because he knows where the ball is going, That gives you a two or theee step advantage on any short routes. Head and shoulder fake right then cut left..............SEE YAH!!! Quarterback aids in the process with a fake throw to the right................gets them every time. You not going to get to the QB very often in three seconds. Lead the receiver so he catches the ball in full stride. Remember with seven in the box it’s going to be man to man defense and the offensive receiver knows where the ball is going.
