Dale Jones on his recovery

Seems like he might be 100% by Big 10 play. It's actually good for him that the second one only happened because the first surgery was botched. Probably better odds that it won't happen again as opposed to if it was just another random tear.

*I thought the same thing.

*I am a little concerned about Cook's over confidence as it sounds like a person who is trying to pre-sale his NBA brand.

In other words he may not be at Iowa long if he is as good as some think. Can anyone remember the last time Iowa had a freshman acting this confident about their abilities? I don't even remember R. Davis talking like that. Maybe he did but I don't remember it.

Wasn't Tyler Smith pretty confident in his abilities while he was at Iowa? Tyler Cook seems pretty grounded even though he is confident in himself. It's a good thing when a player has some swagger.

As for Jones, I really hope he can have a injury free season. After all the issues he has had from Tyler C.C. to Iowa, it would be good for him to see that he can compete without constantly worrying about his body being able to hold up.

I wonder why he was so open to mention that he'd be willing to do a graduate transfer after this season. I presumed he was going to stick with Iowa thru the end of his career. Might come down to minutes played a game.

If he said this, "I don't know if I am going to be able to compete at this level, I hope I can" , that wouldn't be good either. Iowa needs players with confidence.

McCaffery landed him, and he wasn’t about to tamp down the excitement Wednesday. He said Cook has the highest ceiling of any recruit he’s ever had.

Wow! This is saying something.

Remember that stud at Sienna who went on to play in the NBA. Can't remember his name.

Can Tyler Cook play the 3 or do you think he's strictly a 4? Just thinking of a starting lineup as such.

Williams
Jok
Cook
Jones
Uhl

I like the energy that Baer and Wagner can bring off the bench. I think they are both bring high energy to the floor while they are playing. Baer can provide a nice scoring threat from the bench and hopefully Moss can too.

My second thought for a lineup is:
Williams Jok
Baer
Cook
Uhl

Jones could be a spark scoring threat off the bench and Baer may be a better fit for a starting 3 than Cook. For some reason I just like the thought of Baer's energy as the 6th man.

Cook and Uhl can both play the "3".

I like that lineup, but from what I gathered from media day I'd expect Wagner to get the nod over Jones, at least at the start of the season. I do expect the starting lineup to change a couple times at least throughout the course of the season. Fran has done that in the past with younger teams.

I noticed that too. Maybe that is where the extra scholarship is going to come from for the players that have committed. I know some have speculated that he may only play one season and not go the two available to him.

I hope he and Cook have awesome seasons. It's going to be interesting to watch just how these players pan out and who steps up to be the leaders on the team. We all know what Joc can do but watching the other players develop should be a lot of fun.

I agree. Fran has showed he is not afraid to use a lot of players to see which combinations are going to work the best in different senarios.

Was his name Kenny Hasbrouck?

I couldn't agree more with you. I agree with what Fran says as Cook looks really good for as young as he is. I just hate to see this turn into a one and done type of situation like Davis. Be nice to see him stick around and be a HAWKEYE force in the conference.

Jones isn't suppose to be in basketball shape to be a starter at least when the season starts. I see Wagner starting.
