Carver was absolutely rocking. Great for people to see that on national tv. Crean had his comments via twitter. Here's some from Dakich and Crean. From article;

“I think they’re going to be really good,â€￾ Dakich said. “They had a tough shooting night (33.3 percent). When your best player (Devyn Marble) is 1-for-14, it’s tough. But I really do like their team. I told (Indiana coach Tom) Crean that before the game. I said, “Iowa is a really good team.’ *My hope for Iowa is the fans understand and keep coming out, because this is a helluva environment.â€￾

“We know this is a huge win for us, coming in here,â€￾ Crean said. “I like watching Iowa play. They play so hard. They’re competitive. He (Iowa coach Fran McCaffery) mixes his lineups. He’s got a lot of versatility. He’s an *excellent coach. We kept saying, if we get a win in there it’s a big deal.â€￾

Well Crean has to be quite happy - his team played pretty poorly but they still won on the road - in the big ten against a decent team.

And Iowa did not exactly play great. If they could have shot the ball at all they could have won by 10. This is a good Iowa team, but they need a shooter bad!

Geesh! Did you read the article? Is the loss from yesterday still stinging that bad? You act like Crean is somehow criticizing you as a fan! Indiana Is a good team and despite all of our screw ups yesterday we held our own.

I think he was just recognizing the fact that he knows that Iowa struggled in past years with bad teams, coaching, and fan disinterest. Coming into a full Carver and having the fans be totally into the game is what every team deserves. He was being complimentary.“That was a great atmosphere,” Crean said. “I hope their fans continue to pour out like that all year long. Because that team deserves it. I think they’re going to be really good.”Even some of the posters on this site have complained when Carver hasn't been very full this season for some games.

Even with the loss, I would think that most Iowa fans would be pleased with the performance. Losing isn't acceptable, but think about how badly Iowa would have lost this game 3 or 4 years ago. The crowd was back in a big way, and Iowa played Indiana to the wire even though the Hawks couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

If Fran gets them playing their best by February and March like in his first 2 years, this Iowa team is going to be extremely dangerous.

Yeah I agree - we just shot so poorly - indiana didn't want to win that game but we wouldn't take it from them.

Thats what can be so frustrating about basketball...they get all the breaks in getting the ball and they shoot and it looks good but it just won't drop! Arrrrgggghh! Just like a few of those games last year with Gatens...those games where he was hot and hit virtually every 3 pointer and then other times where it just wasn't working.

Crean, like any coach will, talk Iowa up... it's called coach speak. At least this time it was the truth.

I just wish ESPN, CBS, and BTN would not allow any one that are former players, coaches or alumnus from a school, call the game, analyze the game or do color or side-line reporting.

Dakich normally is a preety good color guy... NOT so much when IU is playing and not in this game. Waaay to subjective and biased toward the Hoosiers.

Some do better than others, but you're right, this guy has trouble with that.

I never got criticizing an announcer for being "biased" in favor of the good team. There are a lot of good things to say about the good team. Plus, he said plenty of good things in favor of Iowa too.

Spot on post.

Okay, so at least I wasn't alone in thinking that Dakich was very pro-Indiana in his commentating. The other guy wasn't as bad but still leaned towards the Hoosiers.

Marble was due for a bad night. I just wish it had been in one of the easier non-conference games instead of yesterday.

I wasn't expecting Iowa to win yesterday. I knew they had a decent chance to beat Indiana and they proved that they are indeed a team that is close to being really dangerous.

If they can build on this loss and learn from some of the mistakes they made then, IMO, they have a pretty good shot at getting back to the dance this year. Was watching on TV of course but it sure seemed like the crowd was really into the game. The announcers even made mention of how long it has been since the fanbase had a reason to be this excited and how it was feeling like the Mr. Davis days. There's years of pent up emotion in the fans that can't wait to be released and this may just be the team to do it. I know I'm wanting this team to get to the dance.
