Dake vs Tyalor video

I'm sorry, but that was absolute bullshi*. Not only was that not a reversal, I think you gotta call that an escape at the end.

I thought it was there, his foot was still in bounds. Was very close though, and wouldn't have complained if it wasn't ruled a reversal either. He definitely didn't escape at the end like some thought, and if they really think that, then they'd also have to think that Dake had two other TD's earlier in the match with Taylor escapes.

I disagree. it was an aggressive call by the ref (which i'm fine with) but he is clearly behind both arms w/ the inside leg in as they go out of bounds. you don't have to bring him to the mat there to score the 2. if you are behind your opponent, it's 2.

Also, at the end from that camera angle you can't tell if his hands are locked. if they are, there is no one, if they are broken then it's an escape. but the offical is looking and pointing right at his hands which signals to me that it's still locked up, from our angle, we can't see.

They were close calls no doubt. but I don't think Taylor got screwed or would ever call it bullsh*t. i think they were simply two very, very close calls and they went Dakes way. i have no problem with how they were called.

here's an interesting breakdown w/ pictues included

I think they got it right as well and if there are any favoritism out there it would go the penn state way. I agree with CRlightweight being a very aggressive call. In wrestling there are no instant replays for a reason.

BTW, Dake may be good, but that kid wrestles like a.

I thought Taylor wrestled a much more conservative match than Dake did. He never hit one legit shot and was clearly riding in the 2nd period just to build up riding time in my eyes. Not his typical style at all.

CR - Definitely aggressive and not in the norm for how matches are usually called. Also, I don't like the rule for this (not that anyone cares what I like). For a TD you have to bring your opponent to the mat or make them put weight on their hands, but for a reversal you only have to get behind your opponent? That doesn't make sense to me.

i think the ref did a great job with the rules most would of not called it w/o weight down on hands...great call!

But think of the alternative. if you call it 1 escape all they do is lift the guy adn it's a TD, that'd be total BS to get basically 3 pts for a reversal. and you can't really say the top guy is still in control and leave riding time when the other guy is completely behind him and controlling the position, ya know? it's not a great rule, but i think it is probably the best way to call it. just a lot of people dont know the rule and that was what caused a lot of the outrage. in my opinion anyways.

You make a good point; however, I wouldn't have awarded a TD in this case. I would've given an escape to Dake and sent them back to the center of the mat in the neutral position.

All this happened "out of the circle".

Yeah i could easily see that in this situation AF. if he called 1 i would've had no problem with it at all. but if it happened in the middle of the mat reversal is about all you can call.

hopefully in March there are some take downs and a definitive winner.
