I can't confirm it, but I would guess we had to start the tallest D-Ends in the country this game, with Matt Nelson at 6'8 and Maj. Tony Nelson at 6'7. They are both just 'babies' still as a Soph. and a RSFrosh. Even if they can't get to the QB on a sack, it has to cause some havoc if they get their arms up. There was one play they showed from ground level where Bazata actually tipped the ball, but Matt Nelson had jumped with his arms up behind Bazata and the ball would have probably hit him in the face. I think these two have a bright future as they gain confidence and improve their technique over the next 2-3 years, and the WILL improve their strength and technique as they go, that's what Iowa does so well. With Hesse being only a Soph. and with Epenesa coming in, the future is certainly bright and 'deep' at DE for Iowa! In the meantime it will be fun to watch the 'Full Nelson' progress this year!!!
P.S. - and that doesn't even count that Brinks, who is playing quite a lot, is only a soph. (although, I think he has the 'frame' to move inside and he may next year) or Reiff (who is supposedly really coming on) or the 3-4 freshmen (Simon, McKnight, Gholston, etc.) that are highly thought of but we don't know much about yet. I expect Shulte (Karl Klug Jr.), Lattimore, and Brinks to help us inside next year as the only 'commodity' we have there is Bazata.
