CyHawk Series Extended

This is the absolute dumbest game in college football. It will always be a lose/lose for Iowa.

If the Hawks win it means nothing because we should always win on paper. Better recruiting classes, more money, more facilities, bigger coaching payroll, yadda yadda.

Hawks lose then they got beat by a shitbird team with less talented recruiting classes, less money, less facilities, and a smaller coaching payroll.

This game can eat shit for eternity.

It's a $5 million endowment, not corporate naming rights. A quick google search shows that UofI endowments were at about $1.3 billion as of the end of 2016. Do any of these other endowments make you want to puke a little?

FYI, Iowa wins the endowment bowl too. Numbers vary depending on who's measures you use...but it ain't close.

It is a fun game to attend and have lengthy tailgating, whether here or there. And yes, if you wander through the drunken college kid areas at either location some will not be so kind. So many mixed tailgates and I guarantee you most Iowa State groups would offer up food and drink if you stopped by. Same for Iowa fans. And like it or not, the game being in Ames it is a perfect environment to prep for road games in the Big Ten. It is loud and not just because ISU had band playing almost right to the snap.

God I hate this game. It's a lose/lose for Iowa, Iowa doesn't need it, it only helps State. AND I have to deal with insufferable State fans, it's lose/lose for the fans too.

Seriously? This is the game you have a problem with? Not Miami-OH or Middle Tenn St? Not UNI or any of the other FCS schools that are now back on future schedules?

For crying out loud. IOWA at the very least needs to get rid of the FCS games before Iowa even begins to talk about getting rid of Iowa St from the schedule.

Yeah the MAC games could go away. I understand they are chances for practice and get a lot of players in and work out the bugs and practice winning. Also games where they offer discounted prices for kids to hook some future ticket buying fans. I saw a quote from a NASCAR driver, I believe Clint Bowyer, and he hit it right on, sports venues now have to make races (or games) into events with lots of attractions to get people to come out in person.

Meh whatever.
I don't mind playing them, but to be honest it doesn't even bump the excitement meter.
It doesn't matter what the score ever is.
I find teams in the Mac more exciting.
That's what happens when you play the same team over and over and over.
No matter what the score ever is, it's become stale. Nobody outside of Iowa gives a crap.
Yeah ISU has improved. Good for them and actually good for us if we beat them because it propels us up in rankings. But that's it.

It's not the band playing to the snap that's the issue....it's the pump up music played thru the loudspeakers while in the huddle and at the line that's the issue. It's so obviously blatant....and illegal.

The game is fine but it would be great if they played it every other year. Then there could be some other things mixed in. As it sits, it's the same damned thing every year.

C'mon dude you can admit it, you and most every other Iowan pays attention to this game more so than almost any other game on either team's schedule. And that is the truth. Pull the blinds so the neighbors don't see and stay glued to the tube. Everyone else is doing it too.

By the way, dump the clowns and this series. I have been saying it for years it is boring to play the same P5 team in non-conf all the time. There are way too many cool matchups like with Pitt or Mizzou etc that could be played. You can get good games against MAC teams depending on how the stars align so those are not pushover games.

I would love to see a home and home with an SEC team.

Boring? Were you there last year? If so, you are the only one who was bored! Did you see the players after the game? They were ecstatic about the win!

Hard to compare the games of the last three years. Last year, an overwhelming defensive performance. Two years ago, a back-and-forth win in OT. Three years ago, a "Welcome to Iowa City" beat-down for Campbell. Which of those don't interest you?

It's not a matter of them not interesting me. and I don't have the power or desire to undo the past. My point is this, we are going to keep two cupcake games so that there are enough home games. There isn't going to be a 13th game added to the schedule. In order for there to be a bit of scheduling variety, make cyhawk happen every other year so there can be some P5 scheduling flexibility. four year players still get the opportunity for a home and home. seems an easy ask.

Who's NASCAR? Never heard of her.

Nope, it doesn't matter who we are playing, the first couple of games interest me to see how things look. That ndsu game was by far and away more interesting.
Then the biggest one is Wisconsin. Always has been. Then OSU. Then the Michigan's, then probably the Nu's.
Besides Wisconsin at the very top of our conference games, I would guess that is about how the general public interest goes as well.
I mean look Creighton has a good bb program. Probably better than isu's football program, but if we played Creighton every single year, over and over, local school or not, program success or not, it would get stale.
Only advantage? If they were good and we won and it helps us in the rankings.

Uni or isu, makes no difference to me.
Now throw in a Stanford, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas (even Maryland did it). That's different.

If it’s not naming rights then it’s okay to officially say athletic director.

His and Hers Tippie Chair of Athletics just doesn’t cut it.

I’m not a fan of the FCS games.
But Is Iowa the only program that schedules FCS games? Other BIG10 schools? SEC?

C'mon man you are from the Midwest. Racin' everywhere on the weekends. You are probably too young for Dale Sr. memories. I don't watch any more but I used to back when he raced.
I’m 38. If I wanted to watch something as boring as turning left for 17 hours straight I’d buy a Bundesliga subscription.

I will say it’s impressive how they can keep a dip in and yell boogity at the same time.

You got the reply we all knew was coming . . . "well if other schools make stupid decisions the least we can do is be equally stupid."

I always want to reply to these folks with, "if other teams cheat or cover-up for a Sandusky (like MSU/OSU/PSU) should we follow their lead?"
