CyHawk Series Extended

If Iowa was ever going to schedule a 2nd P5 OOC in addition to ISU, it looks like 2024 is the year to do it.

Big Ten cross-overs in 2024 are Indy, MD and Rut. Iowa should jump on this opportunity to schedule another P5 ooc in 2024.

Of course, I am making a bold prediction now that the Big Ten will vote to get rid of east-west divisions starting in 2022 and instead will go without divisions. NCAA rules will be changed so that the 2 best teams in the conference can make the CCG, making divisions unnecessary. Big Ten schedules will be changed so that everybody has 5 permanent rivals and play everybody else 50% of the time.

My main point is that the Big Ten schedules for 2022-2025 are eventually going to change. But hey I still say try to get that P5 OOC scheduled in 2024 anyway.

2025 - ISU contract, Kirk's contract (correct?), how long is Barta's?
The info about Big 10 future schedules is interesting also.

I believe Barta will retire before KF - someone else will make that decision.

Anyone else notice this part: "The joint announcement was made Monday by Gary Barta, Henry B. and Patricia B Tippie Director of Athletics Chair, and Jamie Pollard, director of athletics at Iowa State."

They are selling corporate naming rights to jobs titles now? Can they even do that? It made me puke in my mouth a little. Barta's mom is probably walking around around with a corporate logo tatooed on her forehead.

It's a $5 million endowment, not corporate naming rights. A quick google search shows that UofI endowments were at about $1.3 billion as of the end of 2016. Do any of these other endowments make you want to puke a little?

If anyone has nor been following non-conference scheduling your seeing some power five match ups being lined up. Auburn and Penn State just announced they would be playing a series. https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...llege-football-teams-strengthening-schedules/

Anyway I was hoping that this series would end. It is a lose / lose game for both programs. In a year like this when both teams could compete for a top 25 finish it will most likely kill the chances for the loser. ISU's record the last two years would have been better if it hadn't played the game. In Iowa's case it didn't matter one way or another that they won. It is likely they would have won against two different teams.

Iowa's schedule this year isn't generating any excitement here. A MAC team, Middle Tn, and ISU - seems stale.

Doesn't change a thing, you must be a lawyer parsing words like that.....there is no difference between giving naming rights for a job title for an endowment and calling it corporate naming rights. I am far from being a social justice warrior, but this is just another obscene money grab. And if this is not unique, why isn't Pollard the Roy and Bobbi Reiman Director of Athletics Chair?

The Big 12 already does this, I don't think any NCAA rules would need changed.

The Big 12 only has 10 teams. I believe the whole CCG was set up when some leagues went to 12 teams. whole different situation although with divisions a team can stay in the hunt for their division title a little longer than if there are no divisions in a 12 or 14 team conference.

By the way, dump the clowns and this series. I have been saying it for years it is boring to play the same P5 team in non-conf all the time. There are way too many cool matchups like with Pitt or Mizzou etc that could be played. You can get good games against MAC teams depending on how the stars align so those are not pushover games.

I would love to see a home and home with an SEC team.

The Big 12 does not need to have divisions because they play a full Round Robin.

Right now if a conference does not play a full round Robin, then they must have 2 divisions in order to have a conference championship game. But lately the Big Ten is hinting that they would consider supporting changing the rules.

I just believe the Big Ten wants to finish the 6-year rotation that started in 2016 and ends in 2021 before they make that change.

I think both Missouri and Arkansas both would be realistic options to schedule ooc. And If they don't want to meet for a home and home series, maybe they would agree to meet for 1 game in St Louis.

I agree, that would be fantastic. I have little faith that they would schedule up, though. Probably just bring in another Montana. That don't move the needle much. At least not mine. :D

Lol...

Explain for us the difference between your name being on a building/department title because of an endowment vs a corporate naming right, other than semantics.

It’s paying money to have your name get slapped on something. If you think the Tippes give two fucks whether a kid graduates from their business school or an athlete gets enough recovery smoothies you’re goddamn nuts. If ol’ Hank and Patty were only concerned with the benefit of their donation to the U and it’s students, wouldn’t an anonymous donation suffice?

Now, you could counter with, “Hey, they just gave $5M, what’s wrong with putting their names on it?” That’s fine, but then call it what it is...They’re uber wealthy and want to purchase some “important-ness” before they croak. I’m 100% cool with that btw, just don’t euphemize it.

God I hate this game. It's a lose/lose for Iowa, Iowa doesn't need it, it only helps State. AND I have to deal with insufferable State fans, it's lose/lose for the fans too.

I think Kentucky with Stoops is an interesting option also.
