Cyclone Fans downplaying Iowa's Victory?

Basically everybody is saying that Iowa was suppose to win. Iowa can never enjoy a win over ISU, but must suffer terribly when they get beat. While ISU can celebrate and get national attention by beating the Hawks and play the Iowa was suppose to win card when they lose.

actually I've read alot of threads where people are saying "Iowa is just VERY VERY good" or comments like "it was a pro vs college team out there talent wise today" Very respectful...and one ISU guy I talked with in south endzone (If you're out there best of luck!!) was VERY complimentary...said this Iowa team might be the most complete team he's seen play in a VERY long time.

I think that Iowa State is suffering right now, if that's any help. I haven't heard a single Cyclone mention the word "fluke" or anything even close.

It has always been that way with ISU we should beat them most years and lets hope it stays that way that we are expected too beat them because if we slip a low as ISU will not be much fun. Great job Hawks very business like that is what a top ten team should do against a team that gets excited about a 6 win season.

Who cares what Iowa State fans think.....ISU should be an afterthought now. Our attention needs to be on Arizona.

That's what the coaching staff is doing but as fans we can enjoy the clownstomping for a few more days.

I understand as a coach you have to stay positive after a loss, but this quote from Paul Rhoads is a bit of a head scratcher.

"I'm a glass half-full kind of guy," Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads said. "I thought we played a heck of a football game. They talk about Iowa as a contender for the national championship, and they should."

I'd be interested to know exactly which Cyclones he believes played a "heck of a football game." Nice that he gave Iowa tremendous props also, though

Considering they are losing these starters: Linemen (2) TE (1) QB (1) RB (1) WR (1) DE (1) DT (1) safeties (2) I'd say they were pointing to this year as a year they could beat Iowa. It's pretty easy to say we weren't suppose to win anyway.

To me, this is a real classy comment. He praises his team for hanging in there , doing some good things and gives the ultimate praise to Iowa for being a very good team.

They were saying that Rhoads must of stumbled upon the McCarney "Motivational and Media Quote" handbook.

I think he is being misquoted here. I saw a video clip of him saying this and he said, "I thought we played a heck of a football team."

Paul Rhoads also mentioned that he had said in a interview Monday that Iowa had no weak points. They were a solid football team.

Not really sure what can be said, the game was over after the 3rd series. ISU is not a bad team, the hawks are just at a different level this year. The dline can get pressure with just 4 guys and Stanzi looks pretty poised.
