Cyclone Basketball Envy

I hate isu. I hate their their smarmy fanbase.

I respect their bb program and fred hoiberg.

I love the Hawks and I have faith that Fran will continue to build this team. Had they not lost out on Tyler Ullis at the last moment through no fault of their own, things would be VERY different.

Agreed, we can only hope Calipari gets caught doing some shady **** at Kentucky. Maybe it could open up Ulis xfering to the good guys :)

It is not so easy being an Iowa State fan AND an Iowa fan... not having attended either school or lived in Iowa. Fans on this board are a little more rabid about it than Iowa State's. From the outside looking in it's nice to see respect.

And that's why I started this thread. It sucks to lose to ISU the way we did last night, but I'm impresses and envious of the job Hoiberg has done and ISU's basketball team. They're built for March!

Haven't seen anything to disagree with in the thread. Mason might be getting just a bit too much blame. Tho I understand the sentiment and agree university heads are largely responsible for the atmosphere that surrounds athletic programs, I'm not sure that it is totally responsible for court / field performance. I hope everyone doesn't shoot me, but in my opinion we are an NIT team again this year. It pains me greatly to say so, but unless we somehow catch fire in conference, the non-con games won't get us any more than that. Bummer...now I made myself feel bad. :(

I think Fran is a good coach, not a great coach. He won't build us into a Kansas, a Kentucky or even an ISU. We'll win some games, make it into the tourney once in a while. Ho hum. Not what a fan base is looking for. But not bad enough to fire.
Did you really just put ISU in a class with Kansas and Kentucky? Pump the brakes.

Agree with your comments about Mason. For all I know she may be a terrible President, but she doesn't recruit or coach the players......Fran does.
