Week one: iowa struggles against UNI, but gets close W, 1-0. ISU looks terrible against NDSU, a bad loss, 0-1. Iowa fans feeel confident about next two games, isu fans wonder when basketball season starts.

Week 2: iowa state starts out slow, but plays inspired and actually looks decent against K-State, but cant make stops when they needed to, 0-2 (moral victory?) iowa looks lost on offense against Ball st. But escapes with a win, 2-0

Cy-hawk week: isu fans will be much more confident and vocal this week, believing they may have a chance to beat iowa, since they played so well against kstate. Iowa fans (at least I am) will be nervous and wonder how can we beat Isu with how our offense has been lately.

Reminder, one is 2-0, the other is 0-2.

Imo, this will be isu's offense vs iowa's defense for most of the game, question is, how will iowa's offense do against a bad cyclone defense?

Right now this is an avg Iowa team with a decent defense, weak kicking game, and yard producing, no clutch play low scoring offense against a poor to bad ISU team from what most people say. To me this game is no different than the first two hawk games where the hawks were supposed to win easily and yet they struggle. Ball St is probably better than ISU and UNI is probably better than ISU so I would expect the hawks to win but compared to the first 10 years of this renewed series this game has become more of a bore.

I dislike this week. The local media outlets try to hype this thing into the biggest game of the football season. On a national scene this game does not even register interest.

ISU is worse than either of our first opponents. We finally get to see backups in this one.

One point about Kansas State versus Iowa State. KS was down in the red zone twice and both times chose to pass the ball every down ending up with a field goal. Their bad play calling has much to do with Iowa State coming back as Iowa State's effort. Iowa State was over matched but their opponent played down to their level.

If Iowa continues the offensive experiment they have been running, they will lose. Iowa needs Wiesman left Wiesman right. And occasional sub and pass. Iowa State has no defensive linemen to speak of. Practicing your passing game instead of running the ball will play into their hands.

Yes, Iowa has big problems if it can't run on these guys.

Yes, let's exclusively give the rock to the guy averaging 2.9 yards a carry so far this season, and let's keep the guy averaging 4.0 yards a carry (Canzeri) on the bench.

I can't wait to be there first hand to watch this pillow fight. You know Kirk is going to keep it as close as possible. He plans on his defense pitching a shutout and the offense getting just the one score they need to win. Man I love playing not to lose vs. playing to win! I will not be surprised one bit if ISU comes out of Kinnick next Saturday with a win.

I would guess that the O line and the running game will get a lot of emphasis in practice this week, and Iowas game plan for ISU will be to play power football and run the ball down their throat all day long. Iowa wins this by +10

Canzeri is a good back, but he isn't an 20 or 30 carry back. Wiesman is. And Wiesman and Canzeri subbing are a good combination.

ISU will cover. That's the only certainty.

Not only will they cover but no matter how badly they lose they'll convince themselves they won but their injuries, bad refs or just plain bad luck was the reason they lost. As they do for every game they'll have their rolodex of excuses which we will see before the game starts. An example is how many flags were thrown on UNI in our game them which one cyfan referred to as home cooking but not one mention about the " home cooking" they received against KSU.
