Curt ALexander commits to North Dakoa St.

Is there any word on what Kaylon Williams is thinking right now as far as where he's going to play next year? I was much more impressed with him than I was Alexander anyway.

Alexander and Williams are part of the problem, they aren't even close to being part of the solution.

I suppose it's against your religion to actually elaborate on this? Or do you just like to make negative statements that don't really make a lot of sense?

What he's trying to say is this is a great example of the recruiting efforts under Lick when one of our targeted players signs with North Dakota St.

Honestly how was he going to check Evan Turner and others in the Big Ten?

While I can agree with you on that, Williams does offer some positive attributes to the team. And at this point, we need all the help we can get. You don't win national titles with JUCO's, but you can improve your position with them. They're stopgap players. Williams would give us a PG with some handles, quicks, and a good penetration game. And most importantly, he would give us depth by being a viable player (much moreso than a John Lickliter).

Within two years, I would expect us to be past the stage of needing to count on JUCO players to make significant contributions. But right now, we probably can't afford to be that choosy. It's a short-term fix so that a coach can get his feet under himself.

Williams couldn't even hack it in the MVC so this is a stop gap ??? Better off saving the scholly for the new coach.

Can you imagine if Cully would transfer, and Kaylon has already signed elsewhere where we would be at point guard next year. I realize there is no reason to cross that bridge until we get there and I hope its not an issue, I just couldnt help but worry about it a little.

Fail.

Williams was one of the few bright spots on Evansville. He led the MVC in assists as a true freshman, I believe. I wouldn't say he couldn't hack it in the MVC. Now - whether he is a good fit at Iowa, I'm have no idea, but you are just ignorant if you think he could not hack it.

What were his JUCO stats ?

PPG: 11.4
3pt %: 34.2% (he went on a cold streak late, was shooting about 38% in early February)
APG: 7.3
RPG: 4.5
SPG: 1.8
A/TO: 2.3

Not too bad at all, epsecially the assist and A/TO numbers. He's got some good athleticism, which is something we need very badly.

OK he might be worth a shot and we do a need another PG. What were his JUCO stats ?

Or could it be that Kurt committed elsewhere because Lick was fired?

Missed it within a minute of posting.

OK, I'll give you that one. Stats seem adequate. I'm happy to eat crow when I'm wrong.
