Current RPI = 60

I think we need 11 conference wins to have a guaranteed spot...regular season and conference tournament combined. If we go 3-3 we have to beat WI on Friday to get that 11th win...which will be enough. I don't like any scenario where we have to beat WI to make the tournament. So it is in our best interests to find another route to our 11 wins. If we go 4-2 and beat Illinois we are probably the 7 seed.

Conference wins only matter for the conference tournament. They are treated like normal games in the eyes of the committee.

Yea I know the committee looks at other factors, but damn we are really floating on the cut line. 3-3 in our last 6 probably doesn't get us in with these weak games left.

4-2, plus 1 (or more) BTT win = IN
4-2, one and done in BTT = Bubble
3-3, plus 2 (or more) BTT wins = IN
3-3, plus 1 BTT win = Bubble
3-3, one and done in BTT = OUT
2-4 = OUT (unless they win BTT)

Kinda tired of talking about the post-season. We do this every year. You have to play the games, and there are NO EASY GAMES in the Big Ten, home or away.

We really need to beat Rutgers tonight. They have talent, and have already defeated Wisconsin. Iowa needs to come out with energy and confidence and the fans need to stay positive (apparently very hard for this fan base to do).

Go Hawks

Staying positive isn't a problem for me. I never tire of postseason discussions. And I can tell you right now I will be guilty of this every year...don't see a problem with it. If I were playing in the game tonight that would be my singular focus. As a fan I have the luxury of looking at the big picture. If I only focus on tonight there's really nothing to discuss.

I love the talk to. If it wasn't bubble talk it would be seed talk. I'm not sure how any basketball fan on a message board could ever be tired of post season talk.

You and I are at the exact same place. We're in with 20 wins and on the bubble with 19. I think this year's resume is stronger than last year's so think we land on the right side of the bubble with 19...but no way do I want to find out. Plus I will enjoy the rest of the season a lot more if we're winning...and playing well.

I'm surprised you haven't played with the BTT generator. I love that toy.

The three conference losses at home are going to hurt the Hawks. The home losses against the Goofers & Spartans negate the win in Chapel Hill. Watch Rutgers win tonight! They hit an unbelievable number of three-pointers to upset the Badgers! That is something we have seen a lot of over the last two seasons. Plus, if the Hawks hit their usual thirty-something percent: It could be an very interesting tonight. There is very little in the last two seasons that convinces me the Maryland & Michigan games were other than flukes

Only the fans put stock in the RPI. The NCAA selection committee looks at a multiple of things. The RPI is just one small piece of a very large puzzle.

Agreed.. The post season is what it's all about, so it's fun to talk about even though there are several regular season games left.

As of right now, I am not worried about our resume. My only concern is this team's mindset.. If they play well down the stretch, or at least serviceable, I don't think we need to worry about much. But if they continue to slide, then we all know what that means. The schedule is favorable, but that didn't mean much last week, so I am just hoping the team is re-focused and ready to play hard these last few weeks.

I too think our resume is stronger than last year with more quality wins, but the margin for error is pretty thin right now. It doesn't take a whole lot to go from a projected 9/10 seed to OUT.

Start by beating Rutgers tonight. Losing this one would be major trouble.

And Iowa looks good pretty much everywhere but RPI.

Sagarin - Check
KenPom - Check
Road Wins - Check
SOS - Check

What are some other variables?

Last year our RPI was 55 and our SOS was 44. Our best wins were @ OSU, @ IL and home against MI.

This year our current RPI is 60 and our SOS is 21...per the link above. Our best wins are @ NC, @ OSU, @ MN, @ MI, home against OSU and home against MD.

The NCAA says go out and play somebody. Our SOS is much better. Our RPI is comparable. We have twice as many quality wins and twice as many quality road wins.

I predict the sweep of OSU is going to be huge when the dust settles. We also have Illinois and @ Indiana. Either will be a quality win and to sweep is a definite RPI bump.

It felt like the season ended Sunday. But that's far from the case. We may be okay with 4 more wins considering the improved resume but 5 wins is almost certainly a lock.
That's good info. Thanks. I feel a little better now.

I agree. And I won't be complaining about getting a raw deal from the Selection Committee. But we swept OSU and they made it... But we won at North Carolina and they made it... Go get the 20 wins and we're good to go. Don't get the 20 wins and we're in trouble...and we will have brought the trouble on ourselves.

Right, because the committee is watching some different game vs. Minny & NW that I wasn't?

We are talking about getting in as 10 seed or so, not a 1 or 2 seed. If a team won't get in based on the eye test of a couple games, it's going to be a really small tournament. Unfortunately for you, your clowns won't make it based on the eye test against Texas Tech.

EYE TEST - FAIL

HAHA....Windsor not falling for your troll is ticking you off.

You'd be better of coming at me with da trolls, as I will always respond to them. Some like to ignore trolls, and "stay above" the fray. Not me, I'll get down in the troll mud, I like kicking trolls teeth in.
