Would you rather play in the Outback (Jan 1, more prestigious) or Insight, lesser tier bowl but we get to play Nebraska?

Just curious.

I vote for Nebraska because if would make an otherwise really meaningless bowl game incredibly meaningful.

since the outback appears to be out of the equation, i'd prefer nebby and the insight than florida in the gator. technically the gator is a jan 1 bowl, but it certainly isn't prestigious.

Personally, I could care less about New Year's Day games. There's WAY too many anymore. It's meaningless. Who you play is MUCH more important. Nebraska is a very good team, and beating them would be much more meaningful than beating Florida, and on pace with LSU or whoever comes out of the SEC in the Outback.

I still don't get the appeal of Nebraska in a bowl. Iowa will get them every single year from here out. Doesn't seem that interesting to me.

I understand your point there, but I think you are by far in the minority on this one. I think this is the ONLY bowl match-up that truly gets hawkeyenation up off the mat...including myself. Sad to say, but people are tired of going to Florida to play SEC teams that we've already played...and beaten in the past. I don't like the Tuesday night time slot though...if it happens guess this guy will be taking Wenesday off work

I agree with Stormin' - we are going to play Nebraska every year. To me that is less alluring than the chance to beat someone from the always-overrated SEC. Our record against the SEC in bowls is a feather in our cap.

I have spoken to a few people today that have told me Jacksonville's downtown area has gotten the short shrift, that its very enjoyable and the NFL stadium atmosphere is great. I have never been there, so I don't know.

I love Tampa, but am also interested in going to PHX

I wouldnt drive to Altoona to watch this team play.

that said, Id rather watch them versus the Huskers on TV. Nice way to kick off the rivalry.

No value in playing a team from conference that was very weak this year. Much more meaningful from a recruiting standpoint to play a SEC team in Florida. We wouldn't have any recruits at the game in AZ.

Also, I don't want nebby to get an early shot at game planning Iowa. Let them do it next year when they only have a week to watch tape.

The only good news it that we wouldn't have much to lose. A 10-3 team that won the big12 north playing a 7-5 team would be expected to win. Iowa playing from the underdog role is a much better position for this staff to be in.

I'm tired of playing the same handful of SEC teams in Florida. Beating Nebraska is just as meaningful for recruiting. And it'd be a great way for the rivalry to take off, especially if we win.

It also has the beaches and all the club and bars on Jax beach along the coast and beach I beleieve are the nicer areas. The area Jon is talking is called Jazcksonville Landing which is very cooland close to the stadium kind of like a river front. To be honest the city is an absolute dump and the stadium is in an industrial area/fair ground/ship yard on the St. Johns river close to downtown. If youve never been there before it would ber a fun trip. Awhile back i saw round trip airfare out from omaha to jacksonville for 99.00 thru frontier airlines. That was about 3 months ago though.

Nebraska in the Insight and it's not even close. Even though we regressed the last four games of the year I think that this team is one of the most talented we have had. If we get some LBs healthy and get some good practice under our belt I think we can treat Nebby like we treated MSU, PSU, and ISU. Some of the losses we experience next year worries me in regards to playing them next year. I think meeting them this year gives us a better chance to strike first in this new rivalry.

IMHO, very few people, including recruits, outside of Iowa and nebraska will care much about this match up. In a season like this, I still think there's some value in showing recruits that we played on New Years day. Beating nebby wouldn't save the season for me. Getting a really solid recruiting class at the end of this year would.

I agree that the SEC match ups are getting old, but our recruiting has been getting better while we've been playing January bowls against those southern teams.

If we were in competition with nebby for some key recruits, there might be value in the juxtaposition of a classy, mature coach and a ranting, spittle-blasting, spoiled teenager type coach, though.

I respectfully disagree. A win against Nebby would cool them off entering next season along with their expectations. I think a game against Nebby would also invigorate our seniors who would otherwise play the same as they have the last few weeks against whatever SEC team we would end up playing.

Give me Nebraska and while it won't salvage the season...it would help dampen the blow this season has caused on the fans. What I know for a fact is that the Insight bowl must be licking their chops over this possible matchup.
