Cully out for extended time?

I'm listening to the Iowa volleyball game on KXIC, and one of the announcers (whose names I did not catch) said that Cully is going to be out for an extended period of time with an unspecified injury, and that we will be seeing a lot of Cartwright. After he said it, he kind of caught himself and said "Maybe I shouldn't say that, I don't know if that's been released yet."

As I said, I have no idea who this guy is, or what his credibility is, but just thought I'd throw it out there for discussion.

On the bright side, all of the "Cartwright should start ahead of Cully" guys will get to see if they're right or not...

We've now had 3 players with injuries this year. Thanfully most minor but they just happened to be to our 3 captains (Gatens, Cole, Payne).

There is no such thing as a minor back injury. Core injuries are hard to deal with. Remeber Drew Tate?

Sorry didn't mean to imply Payne was minor, I really have no clue. But Cole's foot wasn't too bad and I wouldn't consider Gaten's injury major

So far this year there really is no debate. Cartwright has done more and the offense looks much better when he is on the floor. Bryce does take some questionable shots, however the team looks more in-sync with the uptempo style when he is leading it.

I agree that he's playing better...Just saying that now we'll see how he handles starting...and if Cully's back just "Wally Pip"ed him.

Sports hernia is what I'm hearing. Told Bobby Hanson it's been bothering him for a while now and he's supposedly getting surgery on it. Expected to be back for Big ten play

Cully has sports hernia. Out 4-8 weeks. Per Rob Howe

"Sports hernia for Cully Payne. Surgery on Tuesday. Bobby Hansen said Cully could be out until Big Ten season"

I think this injury to Cully hurts this Iowa team. I know he hasn't been great this season but now we are depending on one PG again for the next 8 weeks. Going to hurt this team.

I've had one of those - in and out of the hospital in about an hour. Couldn't stand up straight or take a dump for about a week.

Sports Hernia: Between 65% and 90% of athletes are able to return to their activity after surgery for a sports hernia. Rehabilitation from surgery for a sports hernia usually takes about eight weeks. I have had a hernia and it is not an easy thing to come back from in much less than the eight weeks recovery period. Now the Docs at Iowa City are good and Cully is in great shape, so he could make it back in six weeks, but you do not want to over do it or you will be right back where you began...I hope his recovery is fast and I hope to see him back on the court by mid January.
