The Cubs finally became sellers at the deadline and dealt Lilly and Theriot, and picked up DeWitt in return. D Lee declined a trade to the Angels, because he loves Chicago, but I don't see him in a Cub's uniform next year since his contract is up.
I love the switch of Theriot (30 yrs, righty) for DeWitt (24 years, lefty) who has 4 years left on his contract. DeWitt can hit for a similar average as Theriot but with more power as well. I love this trade but there are still 3 2B on the roster (DeWitt, Fontenot, and Baker). I only see DeWitt with the team next year as the other two will go away somehow. P.S. DeWitt can back up 3B.
I also think the Cubs try to part ways with Fukudome, Zambrano, and Silva. They would then have money to go after a few free agents (Gonazalez mostly) and maybe pick up some pitching for the rotation.
I like the young bullpen, as I've always said don't spend $$ on the BP. They can be shaky too. I think the components are their.
It will be an intersting off season for sure.
Also Colvin needs to play everyday, and NOT be a leadoff man. I think he's a 3-5 man in the lineup.
Castro will be the future leadoff man, when he learns more patience
