Cubs = Stupid

I just don't get the toxic fans at all. KF is gonna be coach, it is what it is. It is beyond me why people cry, bitch, moan, complain about things that have a 0.0% chance of changing.
They are the ones that would give up 2015 just so KF would be gone in 2018.

"The Other 50 threads bashing KF/Davis/Barta are just not enough, I better start another one. But hey, this one's going to have a super-creative click-bait thread title!"

The intended jab was to all those dopes who cry about Tom Davis and how that turned out. When the milk goes bad you don't keep it in the fridge because throwing it away is a waste of money.

I like your post but your comparison isn't really valid.

The problem with the comparison is that professional sports is nothing like college sports in term of building a roster and acquiring talent. Pro sports has the draft, FA, and salary cap to create competitive balance.

There is no such thing as competitive balance in college football. With the a few exceptions, the elites now and were the elites 25 years ago. Good players get to play where they want to play, not where they're picked to play. If there was a draft in college football, they entire landscape would look completely different than it currently does.

And Maddon's managerial decisions are mixed reviews -- especially with the SPs and Chapman. Winning saved him a whole hurt of second guessing.
Having your closer work more innings than your starters over a 4 day period. With a 5-run lead. And a 3-run lead. Crazy nuts.
The bull pen is really weak. I think he was scared to try Rondon and Strope. If Stope would put his hat on straight he'd probably be awesome. Lol :)

Sorry but some of you are so dense and stupid. This has nothing to do with talent comparisons and coaching comparisons, and everything to do with expectations and the thought process behind why you keep or get rid of a coach. The success of the Cubs is because of a change in culture and expectations. It also has something to do with talent acquisition. Both of these issues plague Iowa right now...but we'd better not change anything because maybe it will turn out bad like at Wisconsin...ya know.

Oh and Dean, I have season tickets for my cubbies. Have had them for the past 8 years. But you obviously know more than anyone on this board, so my bad. Dope.

Wow, that's rough. 1 guy left on the roster from the starting 8. What a masterful rebuild. To win only 2 years later is incredible.

Imagine Theo's sell to Ricketts family "Hey, let's tear this down for the 8 millionth time and build it back up." He had to convince Tom Ricketts to say "eff it let's do it." Theo is the man.

Welp then you were part of the problem then. See I was DEMANDING changes 8 years ago. I wasn't a complacent fan like you who was ok with losing. The team only started winning because of fans like me, and in spite of fans like you who accepting losing.

Hopefully now you can understand just how bat shit crazy stupid that is. As fans we can support our teams even if they aren't always winning the way we want. I'm not one of the people who says you can't replace KF because it might be worse.

Oh, and just because you have season tickets doesn't mean you know shat about baseball. This is especially true because no matter what you say you were trying to compare a baseball manager (who doesn't even deserve the credit for the Cubs winning the series, they won game 7 DESPITE him) to a D1 football coach. It also isn't about a "culture of winning" LOL man. It is about having the best damn assembled team from top to bottom. It is about having guys step up in the clutch (not the manager filling out a roster). What posters like me understand is that ultimately it is always going to come down to the guys on the field, not the guy holding the clipboard.

I still don't understand why Theo gets the "genius" treatment from the media. All he does is pick baseball players and spend lots of money, a little kid could do just as well with all that money.

Hopefully this is sarcasm.

It's not about a culture of winning? You didn't watch any of the post games or attend any of the victory gatherings with the coaches and players did you? The culture of winning is all anyone in the organization has talked about. The more you post the more I am convinced you know nothing about Iowa football or sports period. Good grief man (or given your posts, lady).

Iowa went 12-2 last year, that wasn't a "culture of winning"?

Anyone can say crap like "culture of winning". So did Cleveland have a "culture of winning" to get as far as they did? Does SF have a "culture of winning" after winning 3 World Series lately? So the Cubs won because they have a >>>> "culture of winning" than SF?

GTFO here man with that weak ass crap. The Cubs were the best team in baseball, that is why they won.

Can you believe how stupid Theo Epstein and the Cubs are??? Why would you ever fire Mike Quade or Dale Sveum? Don't they realize that firing a coach that doesn't meet expectations might result in hiring a coach that makes you worse??? Why would they ever spoil the good thing they had of being consistently mediocre/sub par. I just don't get why you would do that. (Massive amounts of sarcasm intended)

I don't see anything about "culture of winning" in your original post.

Stupid thread is stupid. Just admit it man. Only a complete tool would take the joy of the Cubs finally wining the WS and use that to rip the Hawks.

You have no idea what organizational culture is do you? It's not something that appears over night...it takes years to build. Wow, I didn't realize you were this stupid. I'll admit that I thought there would be some intelligent dialogue and some folks that actually "got" what the message was.

You are right, it takes years. The Cubs have had 1 good year before this one. By your own logic SF winning culture is 100x stronger than anything the Cubs have since they have been doing it for 6+ years. According to your logic, SF should have beaten Cubs.

What you fail to realize is that the Cubs talent was better, not the "winning culture", and that is why the Cubs won. Talent >> winning culture.
