Cubs bullpen

First Dempster, now Silva's good outing is wasted. Hoping for 9th inning comeback. Caridad is a headcase right now.

1-3 instead of 3-1 because of the 'pen. It might be a long *** summer. I can't believe a team with a payroll like the Cubs put together such a horrible bullpen. And that former Notre Dame WR Samardzija is worse than all of them. I've never understood the love fest for him. He has an average fastball that he can't spot, and no other pitches. I really don't get it.

Hopefully someone will step up for middle relief or it will get very old watching this crap.

Horrible, horrible baseball. Bullpen owns most of this loss but lets not look past the 10 runners left on base by the offense...sickening...

These are the same old Cubs problems. Untimely hitting and a bad bullpen. Two things that were a problem last year that they did nothing to address in the off season. I would rather see relievers get hit all over the ballpark then regularly walk multiple batters. None of them can throw strikes.
And the batting is just so anti-clutch it's sickening. It is going to be a long summer and I have a feeling Lou is going to lose his job if they don't get it figured out. Oh well, Hawkeye Football in September.

Tough loss again by the Cubs. The bullpen did struggle, but as Hawkfromnorwalk mentioned, the offense had some chances as well. It's only 4 games. They haven't even played a home game yet.

Sans Z the starting pitching has been excellent. The problem is if the bullpen can't hold leads starters start thinking they need to work harder and then they start succumbing to the pressure.

On a positive note if Silva keeps this up it makes the Bradley trade look extra awesome.

Yeah, I don't know how much we can count on Silva, but start #1 was good. Back to Z tomorrow, I think.

Bullpens are a crap shoot wherever you go. Hell, even the Yankees have problems getting the ball to Rivera. Caridad looked great Thursday night, looked like crap tonight. Then again, two innings in a row the Cubs had a runner on 3rd with one out and left hime. Get even one of those in and at worst the game goes to extras.

My dream is that we can get a couple more good outings out of Silva and then trade him for middle relief when Lily come back

Thats quite the dream. Most likely scenario is his ERA will balloon to around 10 here in a couple starts

Very true. Same **** new year.

I was just thinking the same thing. I could see it in the 2nd game. Base running errors, etc. Same crap, different year. The errors they make are indicative of a managerial/coaches issue. The manager/coaches for not getting the players ready.

For what it's worth, I have never been impressed with Rothschild as the pitching coach. It seems he has wasted a lot of young talent.

Because he is the best wide receiver in Chicago........I have already conceded the division to the Cardinals.......Once again for the gazillionth time-it is time for a overhaul of the roster.
